What didn't you like about it? It was pretty decent for the time and considering it was Disney.

However, I much prefer The Last Starfighter. Okay, so this isn't a Disney flick, but a decent scifi flick. Great FX for the time.

Yeah, very typical of Joe Dante. Too bad no one seemed to "get it" at the time. I'm looking forward to his Looney Tunes feature.

errrr...

Alex Rogan lives in a trailer court where his mother is manager and everyone is like a big extended family. He beats the Starfighter Video Game to the applause of everyone in the court and later that day finds he has been turned down for a scholarship to college. Depressed, he meets Centauri, an alien with a proposition, take the skills he showed on the video game into real combat to protect the galaxy from an invasion. Alex gets as far as the Starfighter base before deciding the trailer court wasn't all that bad. Arriving back home, he finds an alien 'hit beast' is stalking him. Alex returns to the Starfighter base to find all the pilots have been killed and he is the galaxy's only chance to save itself from invasion and to defeat the invaders who are paying the hit beasts to stalk him.

The story is not the best. But it's the first movie to use 100% computer FX for the space scenes. So, it was groundbreaking in terms of technology. Not a horrible flick overall, but great for the time. And I love the Gunstars. Remains one of my all-time favorite spacefighters.

I have seen Explorers but it's been a helluva long time. Don't remember liking it too much when I did see it. Peter Billingsley and River Phoenix, right?

MOTTI, EXPLORERS WAS ABOUT THREE KIDS WHO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO MAKE AN AIR BUBBLE AROUND A MAKE SHIFT SPACE MODULE THAT IS CONTROLED BY A COMPUTER THAT ALOWS THEM TO GO INTO SPACE. THE MEET SOME KID ALIENS, AND THAT'S ABOUT IT. IT'S REALLY A KIDS MOVIE. I SOMEWHAT ENJOYED IT AS A KID, BUT THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL, AND I MEAN HELL, THAT I COULD WATCH IT NOW.
