Kate Beckinsale enters Wonder Woman role race

Kate Beckinsale has reportedly joined the race to play Wonder Woman in Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon's upcoming comic book movie. The British actress is in negotiations with Whedon, according to movie gossip website joblo.com. Insiders claim Whedon is "very happy" with Beckinsale and confirmed last week that production on his highly anticipated movie adaptation of the popular comic book series will begin filming in early September. Buffy stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter, and teen queen Lindsay Lohan have been linked to the coveted role - which was played on TV by Lynda Carter. Former hot favorite Carpenter even remarked she was putting off having a second baby in the hope of landing the dream role. She recently told a reporter, "I'd like to (have another baby) eventually, but I want Wonder Woman right now. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm crossing my fingers and toes and praying."

Jennifer Connolly should be wonder woman, but I don't think she will lower herself.

I can't see Kate Beckinsale in the role, but since when has the fact that an actor isn't right for the part stopped hollywood casting him or her?

Charisma Carpenter would be pretty good.

But Kate Beckinsale can lasso me any day.

Beckinsale is the anti-viagra, IMO. She just doesn't have it.

What about Belluci? If she could lose the accent she might be a good choice.

Chyna, Xena or Famke would have been the shizznit for the role 10 years ago. They've peaked. Jennifer Connoly would look the part if she still had the boobs she had 15 years ago. Wherever did those puppies go? Sandra Bullock was always a dumb choice. I can see Kate B. doing this as well, but the choice isn't inspired.

And that's the problem. Nobody sounds to be an inspired choice. There isn't really any known actress that just blows me away as the perfect choice. They'd be better off finding an unknown and making her a star. If Joss Whedon is doing this film, what are the odds he's gonna pick Summer Glau? I'd might put money on that bet. And she's just unknown enough to bring no baggage, yet has a healthy working relationship with Joss as an ass-kicking femme fatale.

After the Star Wars prequel trilogy, those two films were the epitome of shit. There's a good chance the Wonder Woman film might bomb, but there's no way it could possibly be worse than Catwoman and/or Elektra.
