Jay and the mods,

I'm not starting anything with this. I don't expect anyone to get banned or whatever. I'd just like to see the general opinion. There's nothing wrong in that, I hope.

If you read Gomers posts on TFN, they are the exact same thing, and I don't have a problem with that at TFN cause the purpose of that site is supposedly for all SW fans, even though they won't admit they only want PT gushers.

The purpose of this site is for fans who want the O-OT fully restored or atleast respected, and Gomers line that 'this is the best the O-OT has looked and we should thank Lucas for even putting it out' shows me he is a troll, because no normal person who owns a DVD wants any of their DVD's to come out in Laserdisk quality.

Gomer is a troll, and I would just tell people here, DONT RESPOND TO HIS POSTS!!!!! He is baiting everyone here, and if no one takes the bait, he will leave, cause he will get bored. He does the same stuff on TFN, and posts the same exact remarks, but there are different set of OT fans there, so he knows he can get a rise out of them too.

Now Gomer won't dare go to ORS, because the gushers and bashers rip him a new asshole, cause those people there are relentless and actually really funny, and that is why Gomer will never sign up there.

I think anyone has a right to post on any forum, but I say to everyone who gets mad at Gomers posts, take them with a grain of salt, get a chuckle, and don't respond, because he will get bored that he can't argue with anyone, and will go back to TFN, cause the only reason he was here in the first place was that he got banned at TFN for awhile, and I know he didn't know what to do at night sitting in his mommy's basement and not able to log on any SW forums to chat.

And this is where I come off thinking Gomer's critics are acting like petulant children.

Seriously, there's nothing trollish about the Gomer line you quoted, and last I remember the purpose of this site was to get the O-OT out on DVD, PERIOD, not get it out then say it wasn't good enough.

And, "no normal person who owns a DVD wants any of their DVD's to come out in Laserdisk quality?" Well hell, if the 2006 bonus discs are what "Laserdisk quality" looks like, its darn fine by me. SW fans harp on those like they're the worst and most unwatchable discs ever made, but they're not really all that bad. I've seen a ton of movie DVDs--including movies made AFTER star wars--that looked far better.

As for Go-Mer, honestly I have never seen a convincing arguement against him. He's only a "troll" if "troll" means "He has opinions that disagree with most of the forum." You say that TF.N just wants PT Gushers. Well if Go-Mer gets banned, then that makes us no better than TF.N, because obviously all we want is a bunch of yes-men who will agree with whatever the popular views are.

I've been fighting trolls since 1998, and I know their patterns. I've seen a lot of Go-Mer's posts and nothing about them strikes me as trollish. Trolls try hard to openly offend people. Go-Mer doesn't--he just has a different opinion, and everyone criticizes him for it. If Go-Mer's a troll, then he must be a very subtle one--and in my experience, trolls don't believe in subtlety.

So quit your bellyaching and stop acting like children.

There's always someone who feels guilty for gomer at a forum he does this shit on. "He's not a troll..." etc. ... I feel the deja vu all over again. Ok, hear me out and then I'm done with gomer once and for all. And this'll be locked etc, life goes on.

Unbelievably I've known this troll for 7 years of my life and you'd have to be truly blind not to see why he's here signed up the day the dvds were released and not from years back to supposedly "help us get what we want." He's a lucas fanatic and could care less about this site's cause. God, I can't believe I'm still on the internet posting at a forum with this bastard. I'm not ignorant to his views and can respect another person's opinion but think about it; ceaselessly loving the smell of lucas' farts is ridiculously annoying and he knows it. I'd love to see him stop acting like a child actually. My brain tells me it's impossible, no genuine star wars fan would do it, but after seeing what he posts here recently and what he posts at ign, I've concluded he hates the original star wars movies as much as Lucas.

But whatever. I can't understand such a person. It's like going to a MLK site and saying white power.

And star wars deserves the best quality possible. It's disgusting that Anal fantasy porn films are in better quality than the Original trilogy. The question is not why are people still complaining about the OT on dvd, but is to me, "why wasn't the OT given the treatment it deserves?" There are box office bombs and direct to video movies in better quality. Come. on.
He big in nothing important in good elephant.

Go-Mer is just an idiot anyway. I don't see what's so hard about just letting him refute his own stance with his own ridiculousness.

Do you think anyone in their right mind would entertain, let alone buy into what he's saying?

The guy obviousy wants to have sex with Lucas, and he thinks if he comes here and defends him enough (whether he is making any sense or not) it's going to make Lucas notice him and invite him out to the ranch for a little hot tub action.

It's so obvious that we don't even need to comment on it.

Whether they look fine to you, to each his own, but they are not up to DVD quality 2006, and that was my point. I bought the set and I watch them now because it is good enough for me to enjoy it, but it is the worst looking DVD in my collection, because nobody puts out non-anamorphic DVD's in 2006. I am enjoying them just as much as you are, but please don't say these are great quality, cause they are not.

As for Gomer, I am all for opinions on this site, and I was one of the few who actually defended Adamwankenobi alot last year when he was the lone PT gusher here, because he was honest with his views, and didn't make any snide remarks about the O-OT like Gomer does. He was just a fan of all 6 movies, but would always bury Lucas for not putting out the O-OT.

Gomer says the same shit on TFN, the same tired lines, over and over and over, and if you read my post I said he shouldn't get banned, I say it is a free country, but that doesn't mean you have to respond to him.

Go-Mer usually can't see the forest through the trees, but I think a lot of folks are seriously over-reacting. If the guys wrong, he's wrong. I haven't seen such a explosive, almost allergic reaction to any one person since filmmaker Michael Moore was invited to speak at a college in Provo, Utah. The locals just went nuts. Instead of allowing him his free speech, they pressured the college with threats of mass student withdrawls and withholding donations unless the visit was canceled. It was and the citizens of Provo were able to resume their sheltered, un-challenged, un-thinking lives.
Why are you guys so afraid of Gomer anyway? I think the members of this site are smart enough to know when he (or anyone else) is right or wrong. And certainly tolerant enough to deal with an opinion that is different than your own.

Having an opinion is one thing. Ceaselessly baiting posters into flame wars because of his admiration for a certain individual is quite another matter. I didn't realize how bad this guy is. I hope you look up his name on Google and see what he's posted.

As the one who suggested yesterday that we take the pulse of the community on this topic, I am very glad for this thread.

Go-Mer refused to respond with what level of community disapproval of him would inspire him to leave, and thus I consider him a troll - - as I would anyone who professes they will stay somewhere no matter how much everyone else wants them to go.

Most successful trolls nowadays stick to just this side of the envelope. It's 2006, the internet has been around a long time. And just as guerilla warriors sharpen their tools and stay effective, so do internet trolls.

Go-Mer IS the modern definition of an internet troll. He derails EVERY THREAD to his purpose, and has completely contaminated this forum. He is a virus, he is a cancer.

Won't someone rid me of this meddlesome troll?

I still contend that most of you are in control of your own actions, and some of you aren't very good at dealing with an opposing view.

Why hold me responsible for the social inequities of people who flame and insult people they don't agree with?

And you aren't good at keeping your mouth shut (er, fingers still).

Why must you inject your opinion, even if honestly and passionately held, in every thread, every third post?

SHUT THE FUCK UP a little, and maybe there won't be such a massive effort to get you banned.

By the way, support for your departure is currently running at 82%. Just how unwelcome do we need to make you feel?

And don't fucking DARE to tell us to keep better control of ourselves when you're the one DOMINATING this entire forum with your CONSTANT crap!

I'm not saying you guys shouldn't be posting your opinions, I just grow weary of the flames and personal attacks.

I am really not worried about the people who can't handle an opposing view. I would feel bad if people wanted me to leave because I was flaming and insulting others, but I don't put much value in the opinion of any person who can't handle an opposing view in and of itself. Especially when it comes to matters of taste.

Like all people I hated Gomer when he first began to post. After a while though, I found Gomer's unique brand of homosexual Lucas lust to be tops. He is loaded so full of panache that he probably farts pepper. Really what is this forum without Gomer? It's blah blah blah blah. Gomer has turned this forum into blah blah blah Hello Frisco! He is the first Lucas lover in the history of this site to admit that he would love to give Lucas a jealous pony. My hat is off to you Gomer, I am going to take a dump in it and then force you to wear it. Gomer may be a troll, but he is also a full fledged man loving Super Hero!

So Go-Mer loves everything Lucas has done and all the changes. I can't say I agree with him on everything, but do we really need a Go-mer hate thread? I mean, there have been much worse people on here throughout time that didn't get this much attention.

Why are you corn holes posting in a thread to say that you don't like the fact that said thread exists. You all are as swishy as a three dollar Gomer.

I don't know if I can vote or not. Go-Mer has gotten on my nerves in the past few days with his incapability or unwillingness to take facts that oppose his view. Whenever a fact is presented, he simply asks for more proof, and it's never enough. Before that, though, he never really annoyed me, and I thought people had been overreacting to him. So I'm really not sure, and I'm just going to stay out of it for now.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Actually Gaffer, I went and transcribed proof (had to go home first), and you guys wouldn't listen to that.

Some of you were saying that Lucas was saying he never had any stories for sequels following ROTJ, and you took that as him saying he never planned on anything more than 6 films. When I found the full extent of what he said, it turns out he actually acknowledged that he was originally going to do more, but the only part of the quote you guys were ever presenting was the part where he said he never came up with sequels.

If you compare these two quotes out of context:
George Lucas, October 1979: There are essentially nine films in a series of three trilogies. I have story treatments on all nine.

George Lucas, February 1999: I never had a story for the sequels. It seems like you guys have caught him in a bold faced lie, but when you take the full extent of the 2nd quote into consideration:The long-standing perception has been that the complete Star Wars saga is a 9 film cycle, and after Episodes I through III were finished Lucas would move on to Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, resuming where Return of the Jedi had left off. "That's really not part of the plan AT THIS POINT, " he says. "When you see it six parts, you'll understand. It really ends at part six."

Whereas the prequel plotlines have their basis in the original treatment for Star Wars that Lucas wrote in the early 1970's, "I never had a story for the sequels, for the later ones," he says."
As you can see, he is actually talking about how 9 or more films is no longer the plan "AT THIS POINT", and that because the story is now meant to end with ROTJ, he never came up with anything beyond that resolution (The Vanquishing of the Sith which would have originally happened at the end of the 9th film) and as such never came up with material suitable to follow the current incarnation of Episode 6.

You don't see me getting all bent out of shape because you guys refuse to acknowledge my proof. What's the difference?

As far as the proof presented to me not being enough, I was merely asking for the proof to be presented -in the first place-.

Only one of two quotes was presented in this thread to support the accusation that Lucas was lying, and I kept asking for the second quote to be posted. You guys kept telling me it was posted somewhere in this board, but you guys couldn't be bothered to find it. I had to wait until I got home to find my own copy of Vanity Fair 1999 to personally transcribe this quote, and when it turned out that it really supported my stance instead of some of yours, that's when someone decided to make this wonderful thread.
