I saw Empire at the AFI Silver theatre on Saturday!

The AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring MD has been showing the Star Wars films in honor of George getting the AFI Lifetime Acheivement award. They had the entire OT play on Saturday and Sunday and episodes 1 and 2 on Friday and today. They will also be playing the Indiana Jones trilogy and other Lucas films in the coming month.

The size of the crowd for Empire was very big and very impressive considering the recent DVD release. They showed the 1997 Special Edition version (scream and all) and the audience was laughing throughout the movie (especially at Yoda, R2D2 and Han). Nothing beats seeing the SW films on the big screen with a crowd.
George Lucas was seduced by the dark side. The OOT ceased to exist in his mind and became the Special Editions...." "They're more maching now than movies. Twisted and evil."

Seeing them on a big screen rocks, but I always hate it when people are laughing, or for that matter, making any sound at all. SHUT UP! I'm watching a movie here!

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

WOW!

Hope you're not in the crowd when I go and see a comedy.

I saw the SE in theater way back when. I was too young at the time to see Star Wars or Empire. I only saw Return of the Jedi ... and I barely remember it. I just remember Jabba the Hutt, mostly.

Wow, I envy you, Jenny

Fun Fact: in 1997 I went to see ESB (or was it ANH?). Before the movie/trailers were played, the theater was playing just some music, waiting for people to sit on their places. As I was walking (correction: striding ) up the stairs, guess which march was played?
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

With the exception of comedies of course but when you take the late show, as I usually do, there isn't any problem with annoying people making sounds. Saw all the SE's back in '97 that way, it was awesome! One of the first times I ever saw them, I was only twelve back then

Since we're all at it...

In 1980 my family took me to see Empire (I was uh...6). I remember the whole experience vividly, but my first memory of Empire was standing in line as the previous showing was coming out, and hearing the Imperial March for the first time. What a memory.

In 1997 I took my familt to see Empire:SE (I was uh...23). The same thing happened, same theatre and all. One of those things that makes you realize that life is all about symmetry, I guess.

speaking of which... my parents took me to the cinema so I could see my first episode of STAR WARS (which was ROTJ, but luckily for me the theater also re-run previous episodes). After nearly 20 years I took them to the cinema to see the last of STAR WARS episodes

The circle is now complete.

So... does that mean the secret your signature refers to is out?

There is no lingerie in space…

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

...well, the whole background story why ROTJ I watched was the premiere showing in 1986 is still unknown to many...
