Anyone noticed that LFL have severed their SW ties with Fox? Warner Brothers is distributing the new Clone War films. Guess this isn't that interesting, Lucasfilm only went to Fox for the prequels in order to bilk them out of ownership rights, but its somewhat weird to imagine Star Wars films without the Fox logo preceeding the credits. I guess the other animated shows were distributed by CBS and Cartoon Network though, and this is not exactly the same as the proper episodic series.

Who says there's even going to be an opening scroll?

What's it going to say "A long Time Ago yadda yadda yadda.... Episode 2.5"?

If I had a relationship with Fox I would of severed it many years ago - ewwww fox.....

What's "ST"?

I'm sure the details (if any) of eps. 7, 8 & 9 were fuzzy back then - especially knowing now that Lucas was pretty much making it all up as he went along.... But I guess Mark Hamill envisioned playing an older Luke, who perhaps dies and then reappears as the "ghost of" (Obi-Wan-style).

I had the interview on audiotape for many years (taped from a TV show, which is what I used to do before I got a VCR). I don't know if I still have it, though. If I can find it, I'll post the exact quote.

ST= sequel trilogy a.k.a. VII, VIII and IX

but yea, it didn't occur to me until you said it that Luke could still at least be alive when Episode VII starts and then get killed at some point and come back as a force ghost. The only reason I brought it up is that Luke still hasn't been killed off in the novels, and while I don't actually bother to read the novels I do keep up with them. Everything I've heard leads me to believe that the current authors are pretty much ignoring any huge impact from the New Jedi Order novels in terms of what happens to the galaxy in the years after the OT, and that series has been the main sticking point with people who argue that any possible sequels could never fit into the continuity established by the novels.

The only post-ROTJ stuff I've read is Heir to the Empire and a couple of the NJO novels. Those last two turned me off not only because I couldn't quite get past the idea of there being another galaxy besides the one in which the whole story takes place, but also because I'd skipped past just about everything between ROTJ and Vector Prime (with the sole exception of HTTE). Since then I've come to terms with it. I figure their intention was to tell a story that could only be told in the medium of novels. Not everything Star Wars gets the Shadows of the Empire treatment after all. Apparently Bantam would've done the story differently (for example, the invaders would not have been from outside the galaxy) and Dark Horse would have covered part of it also, but plans changed once Del Rey got the license.

My ultimate point is just that the NJO seems relatively inconsequential in the grand scheme of making VII, VIII and IX. Whether or not they'll ever actually get made is another matter.

Isn't this likely to be shown in only digital theaters? Won't that make it kind of a limited release?

Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess
So I'm gonna have to leave Yoda, I guess
But I know that I'll be coming back some day
I'll be playing this part 'till I'm old and gray

Says I'll be making these movies till the end of time

Dude, if you're so sick of Star Wars why the heck are you here pissing all over it now? Throw your DVDs/VHS in the trash and give it a rest and get on with your life. All you haters are amazing. You complain day in and day out about the prequels and over the OOT. Get over it and move on. The movie is coming out irregardless of your negative attitudes.

If you're going to hang around here and bitch and moan you might as well give this movie a chance since you still seem to be so infatuated with the movies and the idea that maybe one day George will get a clue and release the OOT as it should be in it's restored natural glory.

Some of you are amazingly hyprocritical.

I think you'll find that I post here very rarely these days and I don't complain 'day in day out'. I love the original unaltered Trilogy and I like to come on here occassionally and talk to people about it, and sometimes I will also talk about teh things that I don't like and why I don't like them. The Prequels, the Spin-offs, the TV shows, all the other shit, yeah, I am sick of it, and if I want to come on here and state that then I will.

I never said I was boycotting it. I'm just not going to see it in a theatre because I don't care about it.

This has nothing to do with my angst towards Lucas and his treatment of the OOT, but I really am not interested in this new Clone War Cartoon/Movie coming out. Is there anything really interesting about this, since it is in a sense another prequel where we know what happens in the end? The one hook Lucas had on the fans with the PT was how Darth Vader came to be, that was what sold the PT, and made many fans who hated Episode I & II go back for Episode III. Sorry George, not interested.

"Dude," if you're so sick of your fellow Star Wars fans why the heck do you interact with them to the degree where you'll start pissing on them for no good reason? Flaming someone because you have simply acquired a wild interpretation of one of their statements is an indication of someone who needs to lighten up and move on. You speak of hypocrisy and yet here you are "bitching and moaning" to the heavens over a much smaller expression of displeasure.

Wow, that really does not need to be theatrical. Just please put it on TV and leave it at that.

I really don't think I'd see it in the theater. Not for $9 nowadays.

Well I am happy.I told my son that this was coming out in the cinema and his eyes just lit up and he actually BOUNCED up and down.So regardless of my feelings anything that gets my son THAT excited about Star Wars will have something special for me.
I have about three different versions of each original trilogy film on my PS3 and the two he wants to watch most are the unaltered ANH and the Adywan revisited ANH.He has good taste.

For the movie they really should of got back all the original voice talent. I don't think I'll watch it in theatres, but I will watch it eventually.

And yeah, movies set after part VI would be great. If they were in CG you could make the original actors look not much older. And some of the original actors could reprise the rolls. I imagine most everyone but Harrison ford would come back for it.

They could get Perry King to be the voice of Han! That would be a hoot!

My oldest son is 5 and I know he will want to see this in the theater. He loves the Clone Wars cartoons and asks to watch them all the time (ADM's version). BTW, I've never understood people's dislike for Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoons. I always joked that they are the best of the prequels. They're filled with moments that just feel like Star Wars: good character development, oodles of properly-done OT references, speederbike jousting, clonetroopers hurling through space to board another ship, and to top it off, a pretty likeable Anakin. I could do without the Kit Fisto and Mace segments from part one though.

Anyway, I feel like the continuity pooch has been screwed, so I'm learning to not think about that so much. I see every new thing with the Star Wars label as basically "based on Star Wars". If this new series can capture a little of the Star Wars magic and not slap me in the face with the trademark Lucas attempts at humor, I might enjoy it. I'll definitely give it a shot.

I think it will all boil down to how much DIRECT involvement Lucas has had in this project. The less involvement, the better. I've come to realize that George doesn't really get what makes Star Wars great.

I partly agree with you, and partly disagree too. I do agree with you if someone keeps coming in and won't let it go how much they hate SW and Lucas, they should post once and walk away in this thread. But I am interested in hearing everyones opinion about the Clone Wars Movie/TV show atleast once just to get an idea of what SW fans think of this.

I can honestly say if someone told me 10 years ago that there would be more SW stuff after the PT and I wouldn't care, I would have told them they were nuts. I am frankly suprised that Lucas is in a sense doing Episode II.5, instead of doing something new and interesting. There is so much more out there in the SW universe to do, why pick something that has essentially been told, and is now getting fleshed out even more? If someone enjoys it, I say that there is nothing wrong with that, but I have to say I have told my diehard SW friends yesterday about the Movie/TV show, and NOBODY cares now! They all said, "Oh just let it go George..." Again, I don't think that has anything to do with hate towards Lucas, cause none of my friends post on SW boards, or really go crazy over the PT or OOT, but I think they are all just Star Wars out.

My wife is one of the displeased Star Wars fans..but not because of anything George did or didn't do. She got uninterested because of the fans getting all nitpicky about everything. She was enjoying the prequels as well as the rest of the EU for that matter. She was just as big of a fan as me.

When I told her about the new series getting a theatrical release, she was quite honestly suprised. She didn't say she wouldn't go and see it with me, because I know she will. But like I said, she's not uninterested because of George. I'm just tired of hearing people bicker on and on about how much they hate the SE and prequels and everything about them. When someone starts a thread like this, the pissers should find another place to piss. Otherwise people like me are going respond negatively.

See, what happened over the years on this site, is every topic has migrated over to the 'General SW discussion' forum, and away from the 'Theatrical Cuts vs SE' forum. When I first came here in '05, this board really didn't discuss much about the OOT, cause it was all PT talk, about what we liked and disliked. For some reason nobody uses the 'TC vs SE' forum to discuss the OOT, or the lack of OOT anymore. I guess to put it in perspective, most of us come here cause we are diehard OOT fans who despise the SE and don't like the PT, and when this is really the only forum on the site that people talk SW on, you are going to get EVERYONES opinion about what's new and old in the SW universe.
