Obscure LD to BD Preservations - Vol. 1 (Released)

 (Edited)

I’ve recently transferred 4 OOP LD films I own onto a dual-layered BD with a pretty high bitrate. Probably too high for it’s own good cause my ISO clocks at nearly 48GB.

Over 200 minutes of material.

All black & white footage has been color corrected to remove any odd color banding that existed in the original LD release.

FILMS INCLUDED ARE:

  • To New Horizons: Ephemeral Films (1931-1945) - A collection of PSAs, animations & industrial films.
  • You Can’t Get There From Here: Ephemeral Films (1946-1960) - A collection of PSAs, animations & industrial films.
  • Two Moon July (1986) - Underground art & performance video featuring the likes of Laurie Anderson, David Byrne & Philip Glass.
  • To Fly! (1976) - IMAX Documentary Short film.

Main menu available for film selections. No other menu but there are meticulous chapter markers have been placed for each short film for quicker access.

I’m very new to preserving laserdiscs, this is my first project with hopefully more to come, but feel free to PM me with any questions if you find this content interesting.

Best Regards,

Thank you so much! There are a lot of other obscure projects released on laserdisc that never appeared in any other format, so I’m interested in archiving that sort of stuff.

Beyond that I have projects brewing that involve some old television documentary programs, a full uncut version of a late 80s anime that hasn’t been released properly, and a preservation involving a film by John Waters.

Best Regards!

Awesome job! Are you going to upload there somewhere? I think this would fit nicely on MySpleen.

I’d love to! Unfortunately I don’t have a MySpleen account, nor do I know how to acquire one at this time. If anyone could help me out in this regard, I’d gladly share all my current projects with that community!

Best Regards,
