I read somewhere that the OB-1 idea might have originated in a prequel fanscript someone wrote back in the '80s, after ROTJ came out.
Hey guys, I've heard about this idea of Obi-Wan in the OT being a clone (OB-1) of the original Obi-Wan Kenobi (or just Ben, depending on the case). I've sometimes heard that the original Obi-Wan of the Prequels is killed by Anakin while the OT Obi-Wan (the clone) escaped with Luke.
Does anyone know where this comes from and does anyone think this can actually work when writing a prequel rewrite? Just curious.
Anakin killed women and children for a mom he didn’t give a fuck about (if he did, he would’ve done something instead of fucking around on Naboo). It’s as bad as Luke trying to kill Kylo in TLJ because neither Luke or Anakin are what the OT established: good men. It’s character assassination. Now, fuck off.

Yes but how would this idea be used in a prequel rewrite? Would the clone OB-1 be the main character as he grows into the Obi-Wan of the OT? Would he just be there on the side while the original Obi-Wan and Anakin go off in the war?

He's a robot!
"I don't recall ever being a droid."
