I won’t be watching another Star Wars film until the OOT gets released in up-to-date high quality.
Anyone else feel the same way?

J.J. and company aren't suppressing the OOT.
We still don't know what Disney's OOT plans are, because they haven't told anyone yet. Postpone the boycotts for now.

Not really.
First of all, I think there's a good chance they will release it. If they don't, it will likely be due to the fact that they're unable to, rather than unwilling.
But even if Disney makes the decision to never release the unaltered trilogy, it has nothing to do with the people making VII, and it remains separate from my desire to see the new film. So far, I'm interested. That may change over the next year, who knows.
I'm not sure if you're proposing an actual boycott. The film is going to be massively successful, financially, either way. I can understand not buying a 'complete' blu ray set that includes the Special Editions, though. If you're interested in boycotts, I recall a very silly thread where people proposed buying and returning blu rays. Worth reading for a laugh.

I'm not proposing anything. I just know that I won't see another Star Wars film unless Disney releases the OOT, and I wonder how many other people might feel the same.

We still don't know if Disney even has the ability to release the OOT, rights being with Fox and all. Boycott doesn't make sense.

The Fox argument doesn't make any sense. Fox only has distribution rights to the films, which basically means that when Disney (or whoever happens to own the rights to the film at a given time) wants to put something out for release, they have to distribute it through Fox.
I definitely can't see Fox refusing to distribute the OOT. What reason would they have to do that, especially given the demand? There's plenty of money for them in it.
What this means is that it's all up to Disney. They would have to foot the bill for whatever restoration work is done on the films, and do all the work to get a release together.

If it's going to happen, they'd better do it soon when demand is still high. It's almost been 20 years since the SEs came out, and younger people don't care about the OOT for the most part.

Very sad but very true, younger viewers also prefer CGI candy even if it sucks.

They don't care because the OOT has been suppressed to such an extreme that people are not even aware of its existence in some cases.
As for the thread's question, I also will not see Episode VII if the OOT is not released. I have no desire to see the film anyway, so it isn't a boycott, but actually seeing the film would be more out of gratitude that the OOT was finally released. I have such little interest in this film that it would be no loss to me if I don't see it in theaters.

If I ever refuse to watch Episode VII, it'll be because I didn't like what I heard about it, not because the OOT didn't get a proper new release.
In any case, I won't be paying to watch it, so whatever's left of my soul will be clean.

If Lucas never sold to Disney, then I could understand your stance. But at this point, I GUARANTEE Disney will release the OOT sometime in the future, as the only thing that is holding things back are legal issues.
I believe Bob Iger (CEO Disney) was asked about releasing the OOT to coincide with Episode 7, and he said that would be a great idea!
Again, its all about the legal issues at this point, so I am not boycotting anything with Star Wars anymore because Lucas is really out of the picture.

These are pretty much my thoughts on the subject as well.
Buying the existing blu-ray is a much bigger and better example of making the wrong vote with your wallet, which is exactly why I never plan on doing so.
At this point, I would honestly be more surprised if a restored OOT wasn't on the shelves by this time next year.

While I really don't see any boycott happening (or mattering at least), I do think such a release will drum up good faith and interest in the franchise from old fans who have lost interest after 1997-2004. But again, probably won't make a big difference in the scheme of things. It's going to be a financially successful film.
