Following from recent altercations on the old Politics thread I thought there was a demonstrated need for a new Politics thread.
Bored of American party politics being referred to in Baseball terminology?
Desperately want to post about the party politics of other lands, the politics of medicine, religion, of cinema or broadcasting?
Want to post about the personal politics of posting on a political discussion thread?
Want to post images of a satirical nature?
Want to have more than one discussion running concurrently without fear that other contributors to the thread will get all upset and make plans or take votes on leaving?
This thread is open to anyone to use but there are a handful of simple rules just to keep this new thread energetic, exciting and friendly.
1) All images have to be safe for the work place (no really...imagine you are sitting next to a the most prudish boss and think ‘would this picture create the right impression’).
2) All first time postees will be ‘wagged’ (they will be subjected to one and only one symbolic insult per existing postee after their first contribution) after that no more insults, foul language will not be tolerated. The punishment for transgressing this rule is to be ‘brown bottled’ (the other postees will respond to all future postings by the postee with brown bottle themed reposts...kudos points for ingenuity). Naturally all posts are subject to the usual OT.com rules and moderators posting in the line of duty will not be ‘wagged’ but off-duty they must be wagged.
3) After ‘wagging’ all postees will be referred to as “my honourable friend...” or “the honourable...” Postees currently brown bottled will only be referred to as “brown bottle” until pardoned by Her Majesty (see below).
4) The old Politics thread will be referred to in thread discussions as ‘another place’ (e.g. “as my honourable friend EnormousOrphan said yesterday in another place”).
5) If a OT.com moderator posts a picture of H.R.H Queen Elizabeth II all ‘brown bottled’ members will receive Her full pardon and will be allowed to post subject to a fresh ‘wagging’ on return.
Other than it’s anything goes, Kudos points will be awarded for derailing a discussion, double kudos points will be awarded for keeping a constantly under threat discussion on the rails.
Collect enough kudos points and you will receive honours.
As first postee I must ‘wag’ myself.
