Oh God, The Wall on acid ...
Not the replies I was expecting. ;)
I think seeing it in a Cinerama venue would be pretty intense on it's own. Doing that is still on my "things to do before I die" list.
There seems to be a common thread to the films considered "acid" viewing material:
2001
Head (The Monkees' feature film)
Fantasia
Heavy Metal
Are there other movies as trippy as these?
Where were you in '77?
Alice in Wonderland, Dark Side of the Rainbow (fan edit!), The Wall, Yellow Submarine, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Waking Life, but the best thing to watch is mother nature :)

^Is it really smart to admit you've done acid? Haha.
Shit, this whole respected member thing has REALLY gone to my head

Hey, I like 2010. You just have to go into it not expecting it to be 2001 - it's great sci-fi in its own right, but it doesn't come close to touching the greatness that was the original.
And 2001 looks so fantastic because it was shot on 70mm. Oh, what/who I would do to get to see a 70mm screening of 2001...
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Geez, are you heading off to college this fall already?! Phew, they grow up so fast!

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

In 2001 the Castro Theater in San Francisco showed a newly-printed 70mm print, two showings per night for two weeks. Every show was sold out. It was the most beautiful image I've ever seen projected... huge screen, razor sharp from corner to corner, vivid colors, and not a spec of dust in sight. I hear the print got a little grungy after a few years touring the country.
The crowd was cheering during certain scenes. An amazing experience. It made me wish I had seen more films in 70mm.
If you haven't seen it in 70mm, at least get the Blu-Ray... it was made from the 70mm restoration and is a phenomenal image. It's like bathing in the universe.

It was a pretty big deal when MGM issued a remastered Letterbox LD in the early 90's. It was the first time the movie had been transferred to video from 65mm elements. Even Criterion's much lauded edition was from 35mm. The Criterion has all the cool extras though.
My minor 2001 obsession compels me to hoard everything from a Japanese CAV version, to the HD-DVD. ;)
Alas, the only theater near me still standing that had 70mm capability, (at least they did in the 90's) isn't where the revival screenings are held.

Was Natalie in 2001? I might have to change my mind on it.

Whenever I watch the "2001" Blu Ray, it makes me realize just how phenomenally incredible Star Wars on blu ray COULD (and sadly won't) be.

Ha, I don't really care. I can't get arrested now for admitting (on an Internet forum, no less) that I've done it in the past. The only other things I have to worry about are potential bannings (a warning is more likely, and if I get one I'll personally edit all of my posts and never mention it again), and my overall reputation around here, which I, frankly, don't really care about that much.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

^^ I care. Use the Luke pic :)

Quoted for truth and also ridiculousness.
Star Wars under the influence is pretty cool too. It makes the PT a LOT better; the images and music are phenomenal, and the story and acting kinda take a back seat.
Wasn't there some movie where Natalie fell into a lava pit on Mustafar?
^ That was for V for Vendetta
And I see what you did there.
It wasn't funny

The only thing worse than when someone puts 8,000 lines of blank space into a post is when someone else quotes it.

Anyone here seen the Wes Anderson short film Hotel Chevalier?
It's got a fully naked Natalie Portman in it, and besides that, it's a really great short film with some superb cinematography, and features the great song Where Do You Go To (My Lovely) by Peter Sarstedt.
Clocking in at only 13:05 it's definitely worth a watch (for many reasons).

I still sometimes like to throw in a DVD of EpII or Matrix Revolutions once in a while, and I usually have no problem with the "story and acting taking a backseat" anyway..
but hey... you know, like, different strokes... duuuuuuuuuuude
Natalie bump.
So, did anyone see this movie?
