NES games that you haven't beat — Page 5

I beat Punch-Out twice today. I got my roommate and my girlfriend to try. I've never seen anyone come so close to losing to Glass Joe! I remember, though, a rumor a friend of mine told me when I was ten or eleven that it was possible for Mike Tyson to kill you in his fight with you, and that the closing shot of the game will be him at your grave. I don't have the Mike Tyson version, so I don't know. I'm sure it's probably just one of those child urban legends that you hear a lot of, but I wouldn't mind a definitive answer.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I heard that if you beat Iron Mike without getting hit once, he'll fade into bolvian at the end of the game.

After reading this thread and looking up some of the original NES sites, I have a real urge to buy an NES console right now and play all the great games

Well, you could download them via the Revolution Virtual Console System.

I'm totally getting one of these. I might even pick up the wireless controllers to go with it.

That thing is NICE. Too bad that 2.4 gHz wireless doesn't allow downloads, though.

A question: I have a lot of NES and SNES games. If I want to play them on the revolution, I'd have to pay the same a person who didn't own the games would? Isn't that unfair? And isn't that charging twice over the same product?

I've already got a NEX on pre-order...bummer they keep delaying the shipping date. First it was August, then September, now it's November.

Well, if it means better compatibility, I'm all for it! Better than those generic Famicom clones floating on ebay.

What *I'd* like to know is, will one be able to play their ROMs on this new console? Perhaps someone will write a program where you can burn a CD or DVD of your ROMs and use the emulation provided on the Revolution to play them.

That would be cool. But I'm sure nintendo will add tags or something to make sure that only their ROMs are compatible with their console.

I think the Revolution should have a slot for NES (72 and 60 pins), SNES, and N64, and also accept GameCube discs.

Um, I'm afraid that downloading games you already own will still require full price. It's the same logic that lets them get away with the Famicom Mini series. It's technically a brand new version of the game.

OK so I'll play those in an emulator. I got the games, so there's nothing they can do. I won't re-pay for those.

Don't blame you, but I'm really excited that I might finally get a chance to play Earthbound and a bunch of other Old Gen games I missed.

Well, yes, of course, there are the games I don't have.

You mean, the original Earthbound? "Mother"? Or Mother 2 (which is Earthbound 1)? I belive the first one is unavailable in the US. Would be cool if they officially released that one in english.

Actually, I don't know anything about the naming system, but if they do release the original, they'll probably call it Earthbound Zero or something.

That is actually the name of the unofficial rom made from a almost completed translation prototype cart that leaked out of nintendo. When they were almost done with the translation, and even making prototype carts for promos, Nintendo of America pulled the plug on the game released for no declared reason (kinda like Star Fox 2, which also exists in an unofficial way).

Ah yeah, SF2. I heard it was cancelled primairly because it sucked, though, so perhaps it's not such a loss.

Well, I know that a lot of the concepts it introduced (or was going to introduce) were brought back for StarFox64, like All-Range Mode and Star Wolf, and those were some pretty good innovations. I would have been interested to know how that would have worked on Super NES.
