NES games that you haven't beat — Page 4

Good point. But I suppose the same thing can be said of Super Mario 64 and the transition to 3-D.

But SMUSA (or Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic as it was originally released as) really pushed the series forward graphically.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Yeah, I was so disappointed when I realized I couldn't turn into a giant or shoot fire or become invincible in SM64. I mean, it's still a great game, and I love it very much, but it lacked all of those awesome elements that made Mario special in the past. They didn't even use pipes very much.

I want to play doki doki panic so bad! Must be a surreal experience! Unfortunally, it's as available as the O-OT...

Well, aside from the character and some added animations, it's really not that different. But there is a cool opening sequence that was all but lost.

You can see the changes here:

there are actually variations on that code. you can see some other codes here http://www.classicgaming.com/mdb/m1/passwords.htm

but the best is the code generator, available at that site in the fan apps section or just get it from here, right click and save as you may want to go to the site and get the checksum calculator too. if its the same code generator i downloaded like 3 years ago you wont need it, but i dont know if it is.

My copy of Rygar collected dust for months because I couldn't get anywhere. I hated that game. One day, I decided I was going to finish the damn thing, so I spent a lot of time leveling up at the beginning. After that it wasn't as tough, and it was actually a really cool game once I got into it.

What made it so hard was that it was just as time-consuming as Metroid or Kid Icarus, but there were no passwords. You had to finish it in one sitting. I finished it with one of my friends watching, and if memory serves it took like 6 hours.

I remember playing Kid Icarus. That was a pretty fun game.

Has anyone ever heard of or played a game called The Magic of Scheherazade on NES? It was such a fun RPG game, and I don't really dig that many RPGs. It reminded me of an early version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, due to different things happening depending on what time period you were in. One EXTREMELY frustrating part about it though was that if you ran out of lives, that was it. I got to the last boss (HUGE BOSS), and lost my last life just after seeing him. I cussed a lot and don't remember if the game survived for sure. Still a fun game though despite that.

You know, I never got around to beating the second quest on The Legend of Zelda. It's not exactly a game in itself, but it is pretty damned hard compared to the first quest, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, it built up my hankering too, so I got my NES out of my trunk last night and played Punch-Out!!! I made it to Mr. Dream quite easily, but he kicked my ass. Or... uppercut my ass. Yeah, I'm out of practice. Still, I only first managed to beat the thing a little over a year ago.

LOL! I almost bought a GameBoy Advance yesterday so I could play Super Mario Bros and Zelda!

That must be the version of Punchout that they made after Tyson got busted.

Yeah, it is... From having played both, I'm pretty sure Mr. Dream fights pretty similarly, though.

I was one of the only kids in my jr high who was able to beat Tyson at Punch Out. He isn't that difficult if you can avoid the knockdown punches, which he telegraphs ever so briefly. If you use the quick dodge move you can defeat him easily. I had more trouble with Super Macho Man than Tyson. If you want to go directly to Tyson, enter 007 373 5963. I still remember the code after 15+ years. Other tough games I won were: Castlevania (the first one is quite difficult), Trojan, Bionic Commando, Ghosts & Goblins (you can beat Satan with the cross shield weapon), Super Mario 1 & 2 (3 came after I lost interest in the NES and moved on), Karnov (stupidest ending ever, the game is EXTREMELY difficult and all it does it say "Congraturations: The End" on a black screen, and yes the misspelling was in the game), Kung Fu, Gun.Smoke and others I probably don't recall. I used to be a real whiz at games, sometimes to my detriment-my friends at school complained that I didn't talk about anything else. All in all I have fond memories of wasting my youth proving I was king video game geek.
