Since I have a little bit of free time at this moment, I've decided to create this thread so we can talk about our favorite bands/singers/albums/songs, and discuss music in general. I belive that was missing from this forum: a music thread.

In order to begin, I'll list some of my favorite bands, in no order whatsoever, so we can start from there:

* Mutantes (60s-70s psychedelic prog-rock brazillian band - I enjoy anything after 1973)
* Los Hermanos (indie-rock brazillian band - "los hermanos" is spanish for "the brothers", but we speak portuguese)
* Pink Floyd (from 1967 to 1977)
* Yes (from 1970 to 1975)
* Emerson, Lake & Palmer
* Air
* Neutral Milk Hotel (only the "airplane over the sea" album)
* The Doors
* Radiohead (1997+)
* Kid 606
* Sigur Ros
* Equilibrio Vital (prog-rock from Venezuela)
* Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso (prog-rock from Italy)
* Portishead
* Beatles (only "sgt pepers" and "magical mistery tour")
* Beach Boys
* Fatboy Slim
* Queen (from 1974 to 1979)
* The Who (only "Tommy" and "Who's Next")
* Jimmi Hendrix (only live stuff)
* Janis Joplin
* ABBA (oh cmon who dosent)

I might have forgoten something...

It's Jimi (Hendrix) with one "M" you blasphemous bastard!

My few big faves read like a Graphic Designer help wanted ad. If you're in graphic design and have looked at job ads, you will likely recognize the letters "Q/I/P" standing for QuarkXPress, Illustrator, and Photoshop. My three favorite bands are Queen, INXS, and the Police. However, the P can also be swapped out with Tom Petty and Pearl Jam depending on my mood.

I dn't have any particular genre of music that I listen to. If I like a song, I try to find it so I can listen to it in the future.

For example, currently in my Sony 5-disc changer I have:
- Mannheim Steamroller Halloween Collection Disk 1
- The Best of Queen (my dad's been dubbing records onto CD, and he made me an extra)
- A custom-burned CD of classical music (I think I have Beethoven's 5th on it, I'd have to check)

On my computer, I have everything from Santana's Smooth to MC Hawking to "Hell March" from Command and Conquer: Red Alert.

Some other random songs I have...
- London Symphony playing the Super Mario Bros. theme
- KISS "I'm Gonna Rock and Roll All Night"
- Todd Rundgren "Bang the Drum"
- Johhny Cash "One Piece at a Time"
- Creedance Clearwater "Down on the Corner"

I kinda like supertramp as well, being a fan of prog-rock.

--The Patriot
--Pirates of the Carribbean
--Star Wars Prequel scores
--the 2-disc SE scores of all three of the original SW films
--Dances With Wolves

I like John Williams' classical music scores. But for the most part, I like classic rock by bands like:

Journey
Steve Perry
Survivor
Styx
Motley Crue (mostly 1980-1983)
Ozzy Osbourne (80's and early 90's)
Lita Ford
Cinderella (first two albums)
Foreigner
Boston
AC/DC
Queensryche
The Scorpions
Stan Bush
Genesis
Phil Collins
Vince DiCola
The Go-Go's (occasionally)
Def Leppard (80's)
Ratt (80's)
Vixen
Pat Benatar
Top Gun soundtrack

As far as 90's or newer, I like:
3 Doors Down
Valentine
Open Skyz (no, it's not a typo)
Evolution (a Journey tribute band)
Hugo

If you're wanting to listen to some cool melodic rock, check out this site. The intro is pretty cool, too.

Yeah, I'm a rocker:

Ramones
Replacements
The Gits
Gluecifer
Van Halen
Circle Jerks
Distillers
Megadeth
The Damned
Fear
Motorhead
Danzig
The Who
X

I do like some rap, though. Recent CD purchases include:

Beastie Boys - "To The Five Boroughs"
Jay z - "The Black Album"
Dead Prez - "RBG"

I've also been known to listen to the film scores of John Williams, novelty disco hits, television theme song compilations, obnoxious pop punk from the mid-nineties, Mojo Nixon, and any of the major grunge bands except for Pearl Jam.

The CD I'm really jonesin' for right now is "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" by Flatts & Scruggs. God Damn that infectious banjo!

I didn't like Beastie Boys new single, "che-check it out". I mean, wtf? I didn't hear the rest of the album though.

my music tastes are strange for someone of my generation. I like Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman...that kind of stuff.
I know I'm weirdo, but I am what I am.

Okay...well, those tastes strike me as more unusual in someone in my generation (I'm 19, and I enjoy listening to the classics like Sinatra when I'm in the right mood).

Warbler, nothing strange about those choices. My wife and I have really been getting into Rat Pack stuff lately. Frank, Deano, etc. Great stuff.

In case I forget in two weeks... happy birthday. I'll join you at 30 in December.
