But I find it pretty ironic that you feel TDK isn't a Batman movie, while enthusiasts such as myself feel that it captures every significant part of Batman into the ultimate Batman movie.  Plus it gives the best ending in all of comic book film history, really showing the true nature of Batman.

I felt the ending to TDK was silly and contrived. Me and my friend were laughing in the theater when we saw the ending, and I am pretty sure that is not the reacting the film makers hoped to evoke. The friend I went to see it with is a huge fan of the Batman comics too. He thought Batman Begins was by far the better film. I tend to agree with him, I can't say I really cared for The Dark Knight all that much. I think the insane over hype really brought it down a bit for me.

I think the reason alot of people will say things like TDK didn't feel like a Batman movie, is because they were introduced to Batman via the first Burton film, which was extremely unBatman like, and that set their standard.

Silly?  Well that's just crazy talk!  How is it silly?

Oh come on! That BS about needing to appear to be the bad guy so Harvey could be remembered as a hero. Pretty goofy stuff.

I don't remember always though i do remember 1941, Temple of Doom, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Hook, war of the worlds.  Lol he has made quite a few bad movies as well as the good ones in my honest opinion.

And that as director.  As a producer he oversaw to of the biggest turds in film history both Transformers films.

Lol " Harvey - the tale of a man who claims his best friend is a giant invisible rabbit."

About as plausible as surviving a nuclear blast in a refridgerator or Mayan temples turning into alien spaceships and trans dimensional beings returning to "the space between spaces" lol.  Worst movie dialogue ever.

Well if he didn't do that, then the Joker wins.  The whole message behind the movie is to raise of the question of what is truly right and how far are you willing to go to do what's right.  If the public were to catch word that the most law abiding citizen in Gotham City could become a vengeance seeking murderer, then all hope is lost.  And in a city as bad as Gotham, without hope, there's nothing left.  By becoming that villain, Batman becomes the ultimate hero.  He'll let people think he's just as bad as the crooks he puts away if it means doing the right thing.

Every other superhero movie ends with the hero being loved by the masses after he defeats the evil villain.  But here, it's the complete opposite.  Batman can't let the Joker win, so he takes the only option available; saying that he killed five people, which is something everyone knows he's against ("You've got rules").

You don't get it, boy.  This isn't a mudhole.  It's an operating table, and I'm the surgeon.

You failed miserably on the first try. It's RoboCop with "CamelCaps"! I changed it for you.;)

I dunno. RoboCop was the best, RoboCop 2 has alot of good parts, RoboCop 3's best parts were the flight pack and interchangable gun forearm.

As long as the new RoboCop isn't Alex Murphy I'm alright with it.

I hope hollywood will stop making movies starring Seth Rogan and that Jonah Hill guy. Pretty much anybody who was in superbad. Especially that nerdy dude from Arrested Development.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I try not to sweat crappy remakes much. Like the 1970's King King, bad ones will eventually be relegated to saturday afternoons on AMC, and good ones will be appreciated and usually get the origianal film a good new DVD release.

Thank you! I could not imagine a less humorous person, and yet, he is one of the biggest names in comedy films today. He makes Jim Carrey (I don't care what you say, the guy is not funny) seem funny. He makes Adam Sandler look like absolute comedic genius. Sad he is the finest the current market has to offer. Oh yeah, and then there is Ben Stiller... *shudders*

The world of comedy films is truely in dark times.

I can freely admit I've never seen a Seth Rogan movie.

Sadly I saw Monsters Vs Aliens (with my kids, no less!) and so I've lost this right.

Also, I thought this thread needed a bump.

a movie's that need to be stopped before they are made?   the sad thing is, most movies that I thought needed to be stopped before there were made, were made.

I don't know it they are considering making movie out of this or not, but they might be.    Love Never Dies.   Its the sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.   Its being performed on stage in London right now.   They made movie out the original,  it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to make a musical out of this one.      From what I know,   Love Never Dies, stinks.  It does to Phantom of the Opera, what the PT did to the OT.    There are all kinds of inconsistencies between the two stories and Love Never Dies, totally changes and destroys the characters from the original.   It should never be made into a movie and Weber should be shot making it into a stage musical.

Weber should have been shot before doing the first one.

do you mean before doing the stage version or the movie version.    If you ask me,  the stage is version is a classic.

To be honest I think he should have been 'taken up' after Jesus Christ Superstar which is the only thing of his I really can stand.

He certainly shouldn't be allowed anywhere near classic poems about cats, trains, gothic literature, or Michael Ball, and for crying out loud keep him off the television.

Shame that he didn't do the gag from The Tall Guy (the only funny one) and make a musical based on The Elephant Man.

well, all I can say is that Cats and Phantom of the Opera were Broadway hits.   They both set records.      But not everyone likes them I suppose.

I feel proud that I hated Cats when I was a little kid.

For me it was like someone opening a pole dancing club based on the works of A. A. Milne or a disco ice dance show based on Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's Camilla.

After his continued success with Evita do you think he will do a show based on Benazir Bhutto?

Whoa! My head just exploded! (I think that is the second time today) If this hasn't already been done, what a fantastic idea!!! Too bad the rights to A. A. Milne's work belongs to the dreaded Disney Co. No chance I'd ever be able to get the legal rights to make Bingo's vision, and my number one new life's goal, a reality.

Our company Christmas party this year was to go to Cats.  I had seen it when I was a teenager and didn't want to see it again- but it was free and my wife really wanted to dress-up and go downtown to see it.  A lot of my co-workers were very excited as well.

I felt like the lone voice of reason in the group- I told them, "It's just about Cats, right?  It's just a bunch of dancing to poems about actual Cats.  It's not any more profound than that."  Still, people were excited to go.

We got downtown and mixed/mingled with my co-workers and their plus ones.  Then the show started and we took our seats.  An hour and a half later and I was just about to hang myself... I assumed my co-workers were genuinely enjoying themselves... and then the intermission starts.  Their heads turn- single eyebrows are raised.  "What the crap is this?!?!" many say.  My one friend says he doesn't think he can take anymore.

We walk out to the lobby where we chat with some other co-workers.  One says, "It makes you think of ways that you could leave gracefully in the middle without offending someone..."  I said, "You want to see how it's done?  It's done like this!"  And my friend and I and our wives bolt for the front door and go eat appetizers at Rock Bottom.

We head back to our cars afterward and run into a pair of other couples in the elevator.  One asks, "Did you leave Cats early too?"  "No," I lie, "Is it still going?"  I believe I am insanely clever for this turn about.

That is my review of Cats.  Other than that, I like Phantom & Joseph.  Evita is okay, I guess.
