Last night I finally saw the one movie from before I was born that I’ve been trying to see ever since I started going to see movies from before I was born.

You may know it by its other title, The Greatest Film Ever Made, but I personally like to call it E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.

It did not disappoint. Tears were shed. Would see in theaters again ASAP.

Dee Wallace’s caboose is nice, but not that nice.

Thank you. 😃

I just realized, you insulted me. Now you will die.

Always thinking with his misunderstanding, to paraphrase Indiana Solo.

The end of E.T. turns me into a faucet when I watch it on my 32"LED. Seeing it on the big screen would be emotional.

Let’s see…

-Lawrence of Arabia (three times; twice DCP, once 70mm)
-Sleeping Beauty (70mm)
-From Russia With Love (35mm)
-Amadeus (DCP with live orchestra)
-Breathless (DCP)
-Metropolis (DCP)
-Jaws (35mm)

And that’s honestly all I can think of right now, but there may be a couple more. I’ve got to get out there more, I used to be a lot better about this stuff.

I tried to see it at the same series where I saw the Lawrence print, but it was sold out.

Dom, can I assume we both saw Jaws at the Somerville Theater’s annual screening?

I unfortunately missed that series entirely. Was lucky enough to see 2001 at the Egyptian in Hollywood this past fall.

Actually no, the Coolidge Corner theater also has an annual screening every Labor Day weekend (and going to Brookline was much more convenient for where I was living/going to school at the time).

Might have been the same print though.

Well it sounds like everyone’s going to get a crack at it in a few weeks, at least in the US. I’ve been seeing stuff about upcoming 70mm screenings for the 50th anniversary beginning in mid-May.

From what I can remember at the moment:
Indiana Jones marathon
It Happened One Night
Dr. Strangelove
Some Like it Hot
North by Northwest

I’m sure I’ve seen others.

Would see again, even though the showing I went to was only a few months ago. An all time classic. (plus it was almost sold out and I got a bad seat).

Take LSD next time though.

I unironically agree with Neglify on this one. But definitely don’t do that if you’ve never done LSD before or if it’s tough to enjoy yourself on it.

Or just smoke some good weed lol for a safer but still enhanced experience

Or buy a blu-ray copy for six dollars and watch it in the comfort of your own home.

ALWAYS SMOKE SOME GOOD WEED. I just figured that went without saying. But I guess some things just have to be said.

Don’t do drugs, unless you’re with me.

I mean, the one time I watched it on LSD it was a Blu-Ray copy in the comfort of my apartment, so…yeah, that may have helped a little versus being in a theater with strangers.

Best thing about 2001 is you don’t need drugs to appreciate it. In my opinion anyway.

This is the single worst piece of advice I’ve heard anyone give.
