Movie Digital Copies as Fan Edit Source?

I do not have a computer that I could possibly rip a Blu Ray disc from, but I do have a lot of unused Digital Copy codes.

Would it be possible to download these to use as the source of a fan edit?

I have two computers. One is an iMac that’s a couple years old, the other is a cheap Samsung laptop that hardly works anymore. I don’t know all the specs on them, and I can’t check right now (I’m not at home currently) but if you need to know in order to help then I’ll be able to tell you sometime this evening.

I don’t know much about the formats they use or if it’s possible to unlock and decrypt the files (or if you need to do some sort of manual capture). But the quality will be much, much lower than that of a blu-ray.

You can always buy a USB blu-ray drive. I can’t imagine it’s too pricey if you don’t even need burning capability.

The only way I’ve found of ripping a digital copy is to use Requiem on a mac. I think you’ll need to download the file using iTunes 10 and then use Requiem to remove DRM. This will obviously only work for movies in your itunes library. I know of no way to decrypt anything from VUDU or any other UV source.

If I had some gum, I’d chew a hole into the sun…

Requiem works well on PC too (have only done SD material, personally).
