MoveAlong, many thanks for sending this disc. I received it today so i will be watching it tonight (after the wife has watched Big Brother though. ) i remember listening to this LP until it wore out when i was a kid. i can't wait to see it come to life.

i love the quality that the Taiyo Yuden watershield discs gives the printed label. i swear by TY as they are the best quality disc i have ever used, and after seeing the print results that the watershield ones give i will be using those from now on.

I also wanted to say a big public thanks to MA for this disc.My son and I have had a blast with this disc.The main feature and the read-along and the artwork......just superb.Top notch as always mate.

I just got around to watching the ESB trailers, and the '1980 Trailer 1' reminds me a lot of a TV spot that ran when the film came out, and I haven't seen it since. I vividly remember being VERY disturbed seeing the shot of Artoo peeking into Yoda's house while being rained on. Now I think it's cute, but back then I got the same feeling you get when you realize you've left your favorite toy outside in the rain.

Anyhow, I was just wondering if this trailer is that TV spot or a theatrical trailer. Also, I'm curious about the source- it looks like it was shot with 8mm film off a TV or movie screen.

That's funny- were you afraid he was going to fall out? It's amazing how differently children and adults interpret images. The scene with Artoo in the rain looking into Yoda's house was of course meant to be amusing (which I'm sure is exactly how it came across to most adults) but to my 9-year-old brain it was scary.

I'm a little late in reporting on this, so my apologies.

MA, I received the DVD in the mail when you said I would and I've finally gotten around to watching it. First of all, the cover and disc labels are top notch! If only every other fan DVD I've received looked like the two Story DVDs I have on my shelf! I am especially blown away at how great the DVD labels turned out!! I will definitely have to pick up a spindle of those discs and give them a try.

Today I popped the DVD into my Oppo 1080i upconverting player. All 52" of my DLP HDTV were in love with this disc from the start. The menus are top notch, the video is superb, the audio is crystal clear, and like others have said, the occasional shot of GOUT footage is a nearly-seamless transition between the SE footage. You have done a brilliant job of color correcting the 2004 footage and it is amazing how much better this film looks in "real" color. I loved your use of still photos as well. It may not seem like that big a deal to the average viewer, but just knowing how tedious it is to manually set motion keyframes for every image and move them in the right directions makes this release that much more impressive.

Even the audio sync was spot on. I didn't notice any dialogue sync issues whatsoever. Your opening titles and crawl were very impressive as well. (What source did you use for the Fox logo btw?) Props to Rebel1138 on the crawl. I know the dissolve to the Star Destroyer is a cheap and easy transition, but it really looks cool seeing the words fade into the ship.

I really love your menus as well. Being a big menu aficionado myself, I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to create a good menu from scratch. Your main menu is superb, with the integrated video clips. You also deserve extra props for taking the time to do a chapter menu with full motion thumbnails! The bonus content is great too. The trailers are a great touch to what is already a great DVD. I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but the read-along is an AWESOME addition as well! I especially love the page turning transitions, and the chapter markers are a very convenient feature if you want to skip ahead to a certain page. Anyone who remembers the storybooks will appreciate this extra. (I can't wait for Jedi as it's the only one of the storybook LPs I remember having.)

Finally, I have to applaud you for your ending credits. I couldn't tell if you created the movie credits or not, but your storybook and video credits blended flawlessly with them and looked professionally done just like everything else on this DVD.

MoveAlong, it is obvious you spent a ton of time on this project, and it shows in the quality and presentation. Everything from the disc art, to the menus and extras, to the feature itself is of incredible quality. I don't know if I've ever seen a fan DVD that looked better. You set an example every other fan editor and preservationist should follow. My hat is off to you.

Wow. Thanks, Zion! I really appreciate the kind words (and to everyone else, as well). I remember being blown away by your ROTS menus. "How does he do that?", I thought to myself. So that means a lot to me coming from you. I have yet to watch it on a nice TV, so it's good to hear that it presents well on a nice HDTV set up with the Oppo. I'm embarrassed to say that other than my 17" Mac monitor, I only have a *gasp* 13" CRT! Kind of hard to see quality on that! I know, I'm ridiculously lacking in the home theater dept. Still waiting for those prices to come down .

I will again echo your comments on Rebel11_38's crawl. It simply kicks ass and really makes the edit legit as a believable SW experience.

I used the Fox logo from the most recent release of the original 1976 The Omen. It took me about 12 netflix mailings of Fox movies from that era to find one that half way matched. It was a lot more difficult to find than I first thought, that's for sure! The colors and brightness are always different, and surprisingly a lot of Fox movies from the mid to late 70's don't even have opening fanfare. I do still have the Omen Fox logo VOB if anyone wants it for their own edits.

I did create all of the credits. The starfield is from the GOUT (and is the same one used behind Rebel11_38's crawl). Still credits were done in Photoshop and composited in Final Cut Pro. The scrolling credits were done in Apple's LiveType and again composited in FCP.

...I seriously need to find a good TV to watch this now!...

Well, because it looks like crap. I tried initially to use it, cleaning it up, etc. But, like a lot of the GOUT footage, it is so bad I didn't want to open my edit with it. The green LFL and the blue 'A long time ago...' are stills from the GOUT that I cleaned up...

got my discs in the mail yesterday,thank you very much!!!thank you for the story of star wars disc as well as the lost scenes disk you sent me in addition to the empire strikes back one.It was great to hear the story of star wars in good audio quality.I own this album,Ibought it at a flea market years ago,but have never had access to a good record player to hear it on so this is a real treat,the visual synchroization is excellent as well and i can tell you put a lot of hard work into this.having the crawl and logo in black and white with a bluish tint to match the design of the album was a nice touch.Im also a big fan of the original marvel comics star wars and have all of the issues of the alta trade paperbacks and i noticed that part of the narration of ben and vaders fight matches the comic book narration word for word in some places.Onto TESB my favorite movie was handled superbly with this project,im an old school fan in my 30s and never got to hear these as a kid so they were another treat,hearing alternate lines was cool to,i dont remember hearing vader say"Begin",when the carbon freeze happens is something i dont remember.Some of yodas lines sounded different too.Also in the credits ,I noticed the name Gribbit,is this a reference to the Archie Goodwin/Al Williamson newspaper strip character in the bounty hunter of ord mantell story arc?In both projects the alternate music cues for various scenes gave a different feel as well.I was able to watch these on my brothe in laws 57inch widescreen tv and they looked great.The picture resolution and clarity were awsome,I could see every wire and cable in 3po's midsection vividly in the medal ceremony.I look forward to seeing the dvd rom features,but my computers dvd rom wont play them ,so I'll take it to a friends to see those.All in all this was a fun nostalgic trip that reaally gave me that old school star wars feel.thank you again.

Finally got a chance to watch this.

I'm not going to go into detail as it would pretty much echo what others have already said, but this is a fan project of the highest calibre. Absolutely top notch MoveAlong, well done.

Also I wanted to thank you for your outstanding generosity. Mailing out 50+ discs for free, some internationally, complete with cases, covers and disc art must have set you back some.

I have no connection whatsoever with the EditDroid team, so I know as much as you do. It seems like it's definitely a theatrical trailer. To me, it looks like a film projection being videotaped. The version on EditDroid Special Features is interlaced. I deinterlaced the version on Story of Empire so I could pillarbox and resize for anamorphic. My version is 16:9 pan & scan. That is, on 16:9 sets it's pillarboxed and on 4:3 sets it's fullscreen. The aspect ratio is correct on both kinds of sets.

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

Thanks for the info. I remember seeing a TV spot very similar to this trailer, but it's not included on any video collection I have (DC laserdiscs or the '04 Bonus disc) and I'd always wondered about it. I seem to remember that the version I saw on TV had some sort of voice-over (but most TV spots do, I guess) and the Star Wars music rather than stock music.

The audio source is indeed the star of the feature, but I'd like to thank MoveAlong for making it all possible, and to thank the seeders at spleen for realizing my copy. I'll be seeding for a while.

This is one of my favorite preservation projects, because it's the definitive preservation of a storybook adaption, enhanced by the source material from the film. The end result is a condensed version of a great film, but enhanced by a powerful narrative. This makes the story even easier to follow, great for casual viewing. Top notch! Looking forward to ROTJ!

absolutely cannot wait to see the color correction on the 2004 jedi, movealong will get results as far as his previous 2 star wars story albums show.

id also like to say how stunning and professional sounding the PCM audio off those old LP's was. who would have thought you could achieve something so good just from an LP, without having access to the master tapes.

it has always been a major dissapointment to me that Lucasfilm is sitting on those old master tapes and has not released a remastered release of the story albums on cd.

the empire ralph mcquarrie trailer is on the 2004 bonus disc in widescreen and appears to be remastered.

the only empire trailer i know of not on there is the one with the temp track music and luke screaming at the end.

Error: Tracker Response Error:Bad client (exbcLO).

I tried going through their FAQ as it suggests, but I'm completely confused.
Nothing seems to help.

Can I get some advice?

Hi - I'd just like to thank MoveAlong for these awsome releases! Very professional looking indeed, and so nostalgic. Used to listen to these all the time when Iwas a kid before we had the luxury of video-tapes! Mucho thanks for these.

If you're interested, I have the Raiders of the Lost Ark & Temple of Doom LPs which are also fab! I can put those onto CD-r if you're interested in this at some stage? I also have Jedi on LP if you haven't already got that.
