Damn...

Started watching my ROTJ disc this morning. It looked great in progressive scan on my new 36" TV. Then, just as our heroes were leaving Tatooine, I noticed a horrible freeze in the video. On checking my source, it appears there as well. Which means I've got to go back and recapture that section, splice it in to the AVIs, and re-encode everything again (I don't like the idea of using a MPEG editor to splice without re-encoding.)

So that means it will be a little longer before you can expect to see my release hit the newsgroup.

Hey ... besides that error, was the disc otherwise done and of good quality in a multi-pass encode?

Because I could still use it for mine ... =D

ocpmovie: the video (apart from the freeze) and audio were finished, the disc just needed chapter points.

I tried Womble MPEG Video Wizard last night, thought it was worth a shot. It did reduce quality on a frame or two following the edit (up until the next I frame, basically) and for some reason decided to trim 7 frames off the end of the file (these frames only contained black anyway). But apart from that it was a quick and painless way to effect a fix for the freeze.

Just need to author with chapters, then watch the whole thing through to check for any more errors I might have missed.

Yeah, what the heck is that? I just did a project on Womble last night and it cut the black frames at the end too. Is that an option or bug?

It looks like a bug; if the encoder leaves the last GOP open, Womble will ignore everything after the last I frame.

Ah, if that's the case then it sort of is and it sort of isnt. Womble probably does that because unless the final gop is closed it makes it hard to append new segments so it merely exports easily editable mpeg2 at the cost of the last few frames.

Not having it as an option, however, isn't particularly good design for a program that claims lossless mpeg2 editing

I would say select "encode the last frame as I frame" in CCE.

Seems like my hesitancy to use Womble was well founded - it left some b0rked sequence end codes in the output file as well. I had to ReStream the whole thing to get a video file that could be multiplexed correctly.

Glad I didn't pay for it.

Looks excelent! I have the Dr Gonzo and the Cowclops V.2 but this one looks freakishly nice! Will you be sending it to Rikter any time soon?

Alright, just got the disc from absw. Best one of your transfers yet, Moth3r! Now that the circle is complete, so to speak, can we get all of the high res covers and disc labels that have been made? I would sure love to display your trilogy. I think the only ones I have now are the ESB 20MB bmp that was posted on absw and the 1.9MB jpg that came with the ANH torrent. I haven't seen anywhere to get any disc art, although I seem to remember those being in the works earlier in this thread.

Yup, I've done the layouts for ANH and ESB, just waiting on a pic of the ROTJ LD label from Moth3r so I can release them all as a set.
