I asked this in another post, but I thought I'd address this topic alone here. I am curoius to here thoughts on this. I know Magnolia edited it out and most hate the "immaculate conception", as did I. Though I read this from T-bonz' site...

Wrap your head around this. Was Darth Plagueis really Palpatine's master? Did Palpatine take the secret of Plagueis and have the midichlorians create life in the form of Anakin Skywalker? How does Palpatine know about Padmé and Anakin's dreams? The film answers NONE of these questions outright but gives us plenty of room to speculate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It makes it not as lame. It becomes an evil Jesus kind of. The emeperor put life in the unsuspecting slave. This chosen one was visited by the angel (padme) and visited by the kings (jedi knights). He had more power than anyone in the universe and could do great good or evil. He was to be the ultimate evil, but had the ability to be the ulitmate good, ultimately he does bring balance to the force via the new hope of luke and leia. again, I'd love to hear some opinions

thus is the choosen one. and yes i agree with you i think however it was plagius that created anakin not pali. creating a entire new life for i think would have required a master of the power to create new life, i got the impression that papls wasnt strong enough to do it.

I think that if plagius was Anakin's creator then the dialog should have been something like this:

Anakin: Your the Lord of the sith.
Siddious: Yes, yes I am. I was also, the apprentince of Plegius.
*Siddious leans into the lightsaber like he was going to behead himself then Anakin changes the direction of the lightsaber to have it just at Siddious's neck*
Siddious(continuing): The one that munipulated the midicholorians to create you.
Anakin: What!?
Siddious: I found out that he was going to create you to kill you Anakin. So, I destroyed him when he had his guard down.
Anakin: Your lying!
Siddious(said with fastness and, great emphasis): IT IS THE TRUTH!
Everyone else is lying to you and, you don't believe the person who tells you truth?
*wipe so that we have a cliffhanger in the story*

I think that this would have been a good addition. Since, it shows that Siddious thinks that Anakin will never harm him(with the lightsaber thing), it makes his turn even more believeable, his line "I need him" has even more emphasis, and his "what have I done" is more believeable as, well. Since, he had to choose between the one that saved him(or, so he thinks) or, a mentor that has helped him grow.

So does anyone here like the idea of the dark virgin birth? Or is this, not knowing the father thing dumb to you?

I'd still like to hear more opions on the virgin birth, which is western and biblical. Though the choose your path, thing seems more Eastern. Does the virgin birth hold credibility to you that 1. The force/midicholorians created Anakin 2. Darth Plagueis mastered manipulation of the force and created a highly concentrated force being (the chosen one) in a poor slave that is visited by the angel and magi (jedi) 3. The Emperor killed his master stole this ability and decided to create something to carry out his will that ultimately leads to his own destruction as he created something more powerful than himself that can have a knowledge of the force greater than himself.

Further Why would the Emperor want Luke to turn to the dark side, this would break the rule of 2, I kknow this is not the case but it'd be interesting if Anakin killed the emperor so him and his son could rule. In reality in ROTJ it becomes the rule of zero. No more sith.

I think that's an easy one- because the GL of the OT didn't have inclination of a concept of this 'rule of 2' crap from the PT. My personal feeling is that came about because GL couldn't think of a way to make the Jedi think there might be another Sith around somewhere after Qui and Obi encountered Maul. The clueless Jedi couldn't sense the Sith at all according to the PT films, so when Qui-Gon says (and I paraphrase) "I think that dude was a Sith!" GL had to make some character point out that another bad guy existed, as obviously there can be mo mystery in the PT SW Universe. So we GL pulls out of his ass "uh... there are always two... a master and a bitch... oh wait... a master and an apprentice.... that's it!"

Midichlorians are a PT idea and are therefore nonexistant in SW.

Hotrod with all do respect the PT is bullshit and has too many unesscessary plots and twists to try to tie the trilogies together.

Look....I like Sith. I think AOTC is the worst Star Wars film out of all of 'em.
But I like Sith. If Sith was like AOTC I'd hate it and be gutted.
But it struck a cord with me, it made me very emotional when I watched it.
It has a lot of good points. I think it was well made.

Jesus, I don't slag you lot off for not liking the bloody film do I? No!

"Kenobi nodded. "I forget sometimes in whose presence I babble. Let us say simply that the force is something a Jedi must deal with. While it has never been properly explained, scientists have theorized it is an energy field generated by living things. Early man suspected its existence, yet remained in ignorance of its potential for millennia.

"Only certain individuals could recognize the force for what it was. They were mercilessly labeled: charlatans, fakers, mystics—and worse. Even fewer could make use of it. As it was usually beyond their primitive controls, it frequently was too powerful for them. They were misunderstood by their fellow—and worse."

Kenobi made a wide, all encompassing gesture with both arms. "The force surrounds each and every one of us. Some men believe it directs our actions, and not the other way around. Knowledge of the force and how to manipulate it was what gave the Jedi his special power."

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They're certainly beyond any repair you're capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren't one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can't say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won't suck as much as a fan edit.

Hmm. So this is the original novelization, but his story has evolved over time. And we know that midichlorians were created for the PT. I was told that after TPM came out that George Lucas told Dark Horse and some other EU not to use that concept, it was flawed and was to be abandoned.

My opinions of said subject...

Midiclorians
The damn dumbest idea I have ever heard. The force should be completely unexplained. Adds to the mystery and myth of the whole saga. What we all accepted in the OT was that some things DON'T have to be explained.....and somethings are better off NOT explained.

Virgin Birth/Darth Plageus Influenced Birth...WHATEVER
I can see why LucASS put this in, but I really think that it is over-doing it. You can leave the Chosen One stuff in there, but I say just drop the virgin birth. I think it's simply better to have Anakin be a VERY powerful Jedi who had ambitions and such and just went down the wrong path, resulting in a lot of bad shit happening. The whole virgin birth thing is just hokey anyway.....as for the Darth Plageus thing.....LucASS had no business bringing that up if he wasn't going to explain it. TOO DAMN MANY ABSTRACTS HERE!!!!!!!

HotRod
Needs to get laid......just kidding.....

MeBeJedi's ANH novel quote
A damn fine example of the line of thought LucASS should have followed with the PTs.

Shit in his food?!?!?!? HELL NO!!!!

Shit on his head!!!! HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!! LucASS The Shithead!!!!

This is really sad, I know. I used to think this guy was the greatest thing there ever was........now I'm reduced to talking about shitting on his head. Sad and pathetic yeah.....but then again....so is the PT and everything about it.

Agreed. I just find it funny that Lucas went from the Force being unexplainable, to midichlorians.

With LucASS, we never know what to expect. He says one thing and then says the exact opposite.

I need to get laid too, dude.....by 10 female Twi'leks in skimmpy outfits.....wait.....lose the outfits.

I'm on a Twi'lek kick today, it seems.

Read the making of revenge of the sith. In it it describes how lucas was in fact considering making anakin the son of palpatine by way of midichlorians. Imagine that, palps is actually Luke skywalkers and leias grandfather. creepy huh?

Seriously though, i does take all the mystery and mysticism out of it all. I even think if Joseph Campbell were alive he would tell lucas it just ruins the mystery. By the way he thought the original star wars films were wonderfull. And that was long before the special edition or prequels, If they were good enough for old joe then they are good enough for me.
