(Edited)

In the issue of Empire Magazine with Vader on the cover, on pg 77 is the following quote:

“We love then all,” says Rick McCallum when quizzed about the plethora of Star Wars parodies out there. “Spaced is great, I really liked the French and Saunders send-up. I even loved the re-edited version of Episode I - even when someone hates something so much, when they spend so much time and effort hating it, you’ve got to give them a hand”

That's great. I'm glad the Lucasfilm people have a good spirit about this sort of thing, and don't take it as an over the top insult.

Actually, the effort was spent trying to make something better, but I guess that's a distinction he'll never understand.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

The channel 4 UK comedy Spaced is well worth getting - not only for it's SW references but is possibly the funniest comedy to come out of the UK since Red Dwarf.

Well worth getting.

Considering who's signing your checks, Rick, I would expect this kind of response from you.

I think you're just pissed that someone can do a better job than you or your boss can!!!

Also, I hate it that your name is on the OT now.......you didn't work on it or contribute anything to it. All you did was supervise some lame ass effect shots that ruin the movie, not make it better.

You seem like a cool guy from all the interviews I've seen. There must be common sense in that noodle somewhere. Slip George some opium and tell him to change everything in the OT back.

Okay....I'm done venting now!!!

You know, this makes me feel a lot better about doing my own edit. Instead of saying he was going to find every copy and smash it, McCallum said that he "loved" the fan edit.

If McCallum is saying that, then I'm considerably less worried about them trying to hunt the creators down.
