My ideal cut would be something like what darthrush proposed, Hal/L8wtr’s cut with:
- no Dexter
- original title
- Spence’s training scene
- darthrush’s Naboo/kamino music transition
- extended jango shots
For me as well. Any edit with Dex in it is a no-no for me, and the additions showcased here are fast becoming essential.

The extended death scene I linked + the shot of Boba holding his helmet from BoBF.
Watching the BoBF shot back is kinda weird compared to AOTC. Like, the background is kinda… wavy? compared to the original. Like it has heat mirages or something.
Come to think of it, this is probably because of the evolution of CGI. AOTC CGI looked really flat and kinda plain.

I would rather cut the Jocasta-Nu scene then the Dex one. The former is just flat and dull, the latter is dumb in a charming way. But that’s what my in-progress edit’s for I guess.
It’s funny because out of the three scenes, Dex, Jocasta-Nu, and Yoda, most people cut either Dex or Yoda when I prefer those scenes to Jocasta. At least those scenes have some personality in the dialogue.
What is the source of the Mace Windu ginsu machine clip? Someone commented BOBF but I don’t remember that at all and suspect that the reference was to the alternate angle on the Boba Fett Hamlet shot.

And I’ve thought about doing an “extended cut” of Sanded Down that reinstates that and some other stuff, but tbh at this point it would be incredibly similar to Hal’s edit.

Here is a wild thought after looking back at the “false-ending” problem of the scene. What if we seriously end the scene after Anakin disarms Obi-Wan? It wouldn’t change anything about the conflicting ideologies of master and apprentice, but it would clean up some of the mud left by Obi-Wan being an extremely sore loser.
I will try and fix up a little mock-up of that idea. But first, I need some throwaway shot of Coruscant to bridge the gap between Obi-Wan’s initial reaction to Anakin’s victory and his high-minded rhetoric at the end of the scene.

Sorry but I do prefer the original color grade better than this color re-grade version you are talking about.
My idea was to included this scene just before the “palpatine’s office” scene in my future fanedit and after the “Padme’s speech scene”.
For the ost I used the music of the final duel against Dooku. I wanted to give a Japanese “Samurai” fight atmosphere to the scene. I think its working very well here. For the last part I used the music of the “bombing scene” for a perfect music transition with the next scene.
Yup I think that’s the placement most people were considering for edits. I can see how your colors might match a bit, but it’s hard to tell without comparing them side-by-side
Would you mind sending me a link to a downloadable version of that scene? It’ll be nice to have it around in case somebody ever creates a purely extended version of AotC. Especially if they decide not to include this scene from Kenobi for some reason. I’d make sure you got credit for your work on this.
