A short question - are you working with a 1977 print or a 1981 print ? The canyon scene is really dark

hard to say, the crawl was spliced onto this set

of prints for reel 1..

also, since it's an lpp print, it was probably

duplicated and made around 82-83.

Are you worried your project might become too popular and snowball?

Apologies if my previous question sounded a bit vague or flippant. I do think there is a genuine possibility that this project could become really popular on the net and I was wondering if you had thought about this or there might be good and bad points arising out of that?

Have you thought of what happens if your project becomes really popular on the net and attracts the interest of THE MAN!

what project? there's no project here..

move along, move along.. this isn't the project you're looking for..

haha... nope, not worried about it, or thought about it.

whatever happens will happen. we can't control what

people think or do after the fact.

Cool. I think that's a sane approach to have.

Also when i said 'your project' i was talking about a totally unrelated project involving something completely different which I have no recall at this present time your honour :O)

Then why the past secrecy?

I would like to suggest that a Hard Drive with a copy

of the master file, of the DEATH STAR PLANS be delivered to at least 1 other trusted

REBEL

member, that is preferably located far far away from THE REBL BASE

This way if the Empire finds THE REBL BASE and you are forced to destroy ""the

DEATH STAR PLANS "" they will be safe else where.

This is vital to the survival of the rebel alliance.

I concur, much as Luke was hidden from Vader and the Emperor, so must this, the last of the jedi, be protected as well.

And by far far away, I would say in France... so as I leave in France, I am volunteer to keep them safe in my home !! ;-)

Should that be a threat, lucasdroid ?

the cat is out of the bag..

lucas has successfully sold a ton of blurays,

so star wars in HD is safe, and in the hands of people

that want it in HD if they didn't have it already..

there's not a whole lot left to do,

and not that many people are really going to wait

around forever to see if the originals come out...

so the timing is a lot more relaxed now before,

then when people only had access to the HD broadcast versions..

i really don't think this will make much of a dent honestly.

only the few people that are interested in it will seek it out..

much like the 8mm, and 16mm versions have their audience,

so will this..

It just seems like this is on a different level than previous restorations therefore it might get a different reaction from the gods of high.  Besides it's not Lucas at the top anymore it's Kennedy.  Not the VJ from MTV.

He's just expressing his concern and anxiety over this project,  it seems reasonable enough, no need to pick on him :)

To be fair I don't think the studio would've cared as much if he had waited 35 years after its theatrical run to leak it.... which is the point Star Wars is at now.

This project is not going to undercut any potential sales, it's already been released on several formats over the years, including BD, and there's no indication whatsoever that the UOT will be officially released in anything resembling high quality so it's not as if this would affect Lucas' bottom line.

If Lucas were to get bent out of shape over these fan releases he would've done it years and years ago. He obviously doesn't care.

Maybe deep down Lucas wants us to preserve the originals... there's still good in him, I can feel it!
