Hey guys i wrote a poem today i figured this would be the best place to put it.

With banners furled and clarions mute,
With eyes to compare,
The morning sun,
An army passes in the night.

Thin Byzantine faces, walking in,
Horror, Remote and lonely,
Above there heads the legions press on,
An army passes in the night.

The blood of there ancestors,
Fall silent till dead men hear,
The high-untrespassed sanctity of space,
An army passes in the night.

Grave men, near death who see,
Waiting to hear the winds,
Like old beggars under sacks,
An army passes in the night.

Swoosh thud swoosh thud,
An army passes.

tell me what you think or make fun of it if you want i dont care.

lose the "swoosh thud swoosh thud" shimmy... it has no place in that poem. just lose that line and leave the last line "an army passes in the night" as a separate one.

other than that its good.

on another note:

second one. Always liked how the word had a chain of four vowels in a row.

Back in second or third grade, my teacher (young girl at the time) told us that there is no word in the English language that had three or more vowels in a row. Me and this other guy in class started listing about a half dozen words. Unfortunately, we didn't know the word onomatopoeia. If we did, it would have done even more to blow her theory out of the water. My personal fave at the time was "beauteous" which has two strings of three vowels. She just stood there with her jaw practically hanging open. Funny stuff.

But to think that this was 20+ years ago. Even sadder. Actually, now that I think about it some more, I think it may have been a student teacher guesting in our classroom. But that was so long ago, I don't know for sure. Funnier to say that it was the actual teacher, though, isn't it?
