"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I pray that the studio goes light on the DNR for this one...

Oh, and I noticed that when TheDigitalBits first ran the story for this release, the info they posted (taken directly from the press release) claimed that this would be the first time the original Australian audio track would be available in the US, despite the fact that the R1 SE DVD I've had for years definitely has the original Australian audio.

Speaking of which, the specs you listed seem to indicate that the American dub will be the default audio on this release.  I hope that's not the case ...

I hope they do. I really hope they remastered the soundtrack as well. Always thought it had a tin can sound to it.

Yeah, I have been watching it with the original Australian audio for as long as I know.

It would be silly. After the success of Road Warrior and Thunderdome, people should be used to an Australian Mel Gibson movie by now. I would like to hear the American track, because I haven't, but I don't want it as the main track.

Original Aussie audio all the way!

I hope that this is done well-then we will have another classic on blu. Ironic that once again Mad Max will have a better transfer than the Road Warrior.
