Yeah, I'm pretty sure that we can just take that line by Vader at face value.

He feels Obi-Wan.

He does say "In the presence of my old master."

This is off topic, but:

Doesn't anyone think that Aayla Secura's death was extremely embarrassing?

Occupation: Jedi

Cause of Death: Shot repeatedly in the head with ION BLASTERS.

not that im argueing the point, or even disagreeing. but the last time he was in the presence of his old master was when padme was also there, so Luke was present as well...

but i do think that vader would/is able to recognize obi-wans presence and this is what he's refering to.

Why would being in the presence of Obi Wan cause a tremor in the Force? Wouldn't that get to be a bit distracting, as much as Obi Wan and Anakin saw each other, that everytime Obi Wan walked into the room, there was a tremor in the Force?

It could easily be said that the twins, two spawn from a being created by the highest concentration of the Force ever recorded, being near birth would cause a tremor. Thus, the two twins are seperated until Obi Wan and Luke arrive on the Death Star.

It's a stretch, of course, but feeling a 'tremor' seems like a very odd thing to say.

i didnt think he said tremor, i thought he said 'i feel something, a presence ive not felt since....'

oh, maybe when he's talking to tarkin he says tremor. he could have just used tremor as in a change, i mean, besides him and the emperor vader wouldnt have felt any fluctuation or any thing in the force, then someone else that can use the force shows up and it causes a change, its been a while but he recognizes it as obi-wans presense and doesnt notice that 'there is another' so to speak.

anywway, i dunno. what were we talking about again that got us here

Based on extensive notes from a previously unknown draft of 'Star Wars', I believe that by 'tremor' GL meant to imply that Darth had indigestion. He often used to eat Obi-Wan's cooking and had the same feeling- so therefore the reference originally WAS about Obi-Wan.

The 'circle' he refers to being 'complete' was actually an Imperial version of Alka-Seltzer.

On a side note, continuing GL's wonderful Jedi naming trend, he re-used that idea and if you read the credits of AOTC there is a Jedi named Salka-Eltzer.

VADER: He is here...
TARKIN: Obi-Wan Kenobi! What makes you think so?
VADER: A tremor in the Force. The last time I felt it was in the
presence of my old master.

I understand he is referring to Obi Wan, but the last time he felt a tremor in the Force was around Obi Wan? What is the Emperor, chopped liver?

haha, well....it must have been like LSD standing in the Jedi Temple. Tremors happening all over the place, all unique. No wonder Anakin seemed annoyed in every scene in which he was in the Temple.

"Why would being in the presence of Obi Wan cause a tremor in the Force?"

Do you presume to know what does and does not cause a tremor?

"but feeling a 'tremor' seems like a very odd thing to say."

As opposed to what? As far as the films go, the only thing that causes anything more than a tremor is the destruction of a planet.

"but the last time he felt a tremor in the Force was around Obi Wan? What is the Emperor, chopped liver?"

I believe he's referring to the distinctiveness of the tremor. The fourth version of the script states this:
Quote

A tremor in The Force. But the only
time I've felt it such as this was in
the presence of my old master.

"Wouldn't that get to be a bit distracting, as much as Obi Wan and Anakin saw each other, that everytime Obi Wan walked into the room, there was a tremor in the Force? "

Keep in mind that, in ANH, Vader doesn't say "The Force is strong with this one" until immediately after Obi-wan talks to Luke. It wasn't Luke that Vader was sensing - it was a tremor in the Force (or, more specifically, Obi-wan, who is now one with the Force.)

I might also add that Vader knew which hallway Obi-wan would be taking in ANH. Funny that he didn't go to the hallway that his children (whom you think he sensed) were in, and together, no less.

Not to mention that Force sensing isn't an exact art, and Force presences can be hidden (Ben didn't sense Vader in the hallway, Palps didn't sense Luke at Endor, and Qui-gon and Obi-wan didn't sense Maul on Naboo.)

That's odd. I took my quote from the Fourth Version of the script. Hmm....
