Has anyone else seen those recent Snickers commercials with the young guy asking the grandma out? That is so Tobey Maguire. And people wonder why I disliked the first movie...bad casting!!! He ain't no Parker.

What we really need to see in Spidey3 would be Venom/Carnage. That would keep the series going until they decide to pull out all the stops and make an X-Men/Spidey crossover trilogy. Heh...Arcade's Revenge, anyone?

As for comics, most of you people don't know what you are missing!!!

And for the guy who picked up Birthright, I got up to about issue 5 or so, missed a month or two, and now can't find backissues locally!!! But yeah, amazing series.

Anyone want a REALLY good comic? Pick up Batman/Superman.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

Rotton Tomatos movie reviews show that there don't seem to be any critics who dislike this movie. All seem very positive. Tomarrow can't come fast enough as far as I am concerned.

Have to get up too early for the midnight show (work starts @ 7). Maybe I'll go on July 1, since it's a national holiday.

Yeah sean, that wasn't exactly your most inspired idea for a post. Ruin it all.

Aside from that, though, I loved it. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. One summer and two sequels that I've liked better than the originals (Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2). What the hell is the world coming to?

As for S-M2... Better interaction between characters. More development of characters. More internal conflict. More humanity. More humor (I reference the elevator scene - this is not a spoiler). Even a plausible love story.

All I can say is "I loved it". Plain and simple. I would see it again. And I'm sorry you have to wait until the 15th to see it, djjd. I feel for ya.

I have one question that only those who have seen it can answer... when did Phoebe Buffay become Asian and start playing a fiddle? Let's see who gets this one.

Just saw Spider-Man 2. Overall I prefer the original. Spoiler warning. First of all Docter Octopus was done wrong. He was never just a good guy who was corrupted by the tenticles. Doc Oc in the comic was one of the most evil of Spider-Mans villians. He just isn't as evil anymore. Also the movies gaps between action sequences were way to long. With the first movie getting the origin out of the way it could have used that to make the films pace work better. It has long gaps with no action or any word from the villians. The movies effects are excellent and definutly an improvement. The fight sequences between Docter Octopus and Spider-Man are excellent. The movie does have some good emotional momments and some good intellegent comedy. Overall its a very good movie and I liked it but I was expecting it to be the best. The Girl Next Door is still the years best movie.

Leaps and bounds beyond the original. Much like HP3, this one "feels" more like a real movie. The old adage about the first movie setting up the universe and rules, and the second being the one where the actors and director can really let loose applies here. BTW, loved the Bruce Campbell cameo; one of my favourite moments in the movie.

I think the second movie hinted that we will see Man-Spider in the third movie. That is something I want to see.

Depends what series of comics & from what era you are reading, if original 60's comics then yes, Octavius wasn't EVIL, he was a wronged Scientist trying to exact revenge, driven insane by the welding of these "empathic" tentacles to his nervous system

Jimbo, if you thought Doc Ock was done wrong, what's your take on Green Goblin and how he looked in the first movie? If anyone was done wrong or made to look like complete and utter shit, it was GG with that stupid armored outfit.

I personally dug the hell out of Doc Ock and Molina played him beautifully.

Gundark, yeah, I dug the Bruce cameo as well. No one else in my theater realized who it was. Damn rookies.

Other then the change in costume the Green Goblin was really the same as he was in the comic. Another problem was he is unmasked way to much. I only read more recent comics and in those and the cartoon Doc Oc seemed much more evil then in the movie. Spoilers ahead. Why you ask. In the movie Spider-Man succedes in reasoning with Doc Oc. In the comic he did similar things but never seemed to listen to reason. Like all good villians do. The comics made a big deal about keeping Spider-Mans identiy secret. Here the question is now in Spider-Man 3 how many people don't know is identiy. He gets unmasked in front of a bunch of people on a train. Plus the comic book Spider-Man would never ever ever ever ever ever in his right mind willingly take off his mask in front of a villian. That was just painful. I like the first movie more overall. The second movie is still a very good comic book movie but X-men 2 is still my favorite comic book movie.

Cool, thanks for your take. And I do agree that X2 is awesome. Dunno if it's my favorite. But it's pretty damned close. I'll have to scour my memory of comic book flicks I've seen and figure out which I like best. May take some time.

I'm not a comics person. I have 4 real comic books in my possession.
1. Original Star Wars From May of 85. Luke travels to Iskalon after Endor (which conflicts with the Truce at Bakura).
2. A special Rogue Squadron comic that I was able to get from a cereal box.
3&4. From the office of an...don't know the official name, a doctor you go to about allergies. Captain America vs. someone.
What little I know about super heroes is based on the cartoon shows that are still played Sundays on Fox Family channel.

That said, I think there is a lot of potential for crossovers. You know, now that I think about it, I know what would be an interesting (not necessarily good, just interesting) storyline to follow?

If you watched the early 90s Spiderman cartoon, do you recall the string of episodes with Madame Web, where The Beyonder wanted a test of good vs. evil.
...Doing some checking, it was called "The Secret Wars" and there were 3 chapters too it.

There we go! That's your answer to your own concern right there.....you only read RECENT comics & watch the cartoons...I assume you mean the 2 recent Spiderman cartoon series?

There have been many, many interpretations of Spiderman in comics over his 40 year history. Many reinventions & many restarts of the Spiderman mythos. These contradict each other & change characters/villains motives along the way. I don't think it's really that fair of you to say that Doc Ock was wrong in the movie because it's not like the version you know when there have been upteenth variations of the character that you haven't had prior knowledge of to draw a comparison. Had your knowledge of the various interpretations been less limited then you would be in a better position to argue your case.

It's kinda like watching the 1960's Batman television series & then moaning that Tim Burtons 1989 movie completely changed all your favourite characters & totally messed it up

See what I'm getting at?

Yeah I remember that...didn't they have an Infinite Universe thing going on & there was like 6 different Spidermans running about trying to save the world?

BTW...just on another note....The Secret Wars of the title was originally an Epic crossover story from the early 1980's Marvel comics. If I remember just about EVERY MARVEL superhero/villain was involved in some way & I think there were quite a few characters killed off too. But as it was an "alternate universe" story it didn't really affect the characters regular titles once the storyline had finished.
