^^Im happy those pilots were happy with the film.  I saw the movie Fri and thought it was okay.  I thought the airmen deserved more, and certainly deserved to have a quality filmaker tell the story instead.

FYI Red Tails director is Anthony Hemingway.  Who has directed TV shows like 'The Wire', and CSIs.  And has been assistant director on multiple films.

If your complaint on 'quality filmaker' is on what material was shown, then that's George's decision.  As he's stated that a film prior to the actual war footage and one after about the Civil Rights movement when the soldiers return, could be made.

McCallum: I know, but I understand that completely. It’s just a question I can’t answer. Obviously I have my own personally feelings, I hope that he does it, but I don’t have major arguments with him about it. I think that’s a decision he has to come to on his own as time comes by.

This puts Rick McCallum in a whole new light for me. How long has he been biting his tongue at Lucasfilm?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

He must have been biting someone else's because despite a long search I've yet to find a human being with a tongue that long.

I would think most Lucasfilm employees do bite their tongues on this.

Working for George is probably a great gig 99 percent of the time. ;)

I'm actually looking forward to Mark Hamill's new film, more than this one* (*meaning, I'm actually not looking forward to this one at all). ;-)

I hope at least Hamill's film gets a theatrical release and doesn't go straight-to-
video. :-/

I don't care anything about Red Tails, but what the heck is that? It looks weird in a bad sort of modern low budget sorta way, but Mark looks like he gets to ham it up so I'm in. (and that hair?) Plus the trailer has one of the best songs ever so...it can't that bad can it?

I think it's supposed to be a grindhouse-type flick. Hamill gave an interview to G4's Attack of the Show at the last Comic-Con about it. He said that his character has the worst "hair-don't" since Carrie Fisher's in SW. ;-)

Wowzers.

Yeah, hard to get excited about that, but at least the idea is circulating and it's nice to know now that there may actually be a thinking, understanding human being under McCallum's skin somewhere.

I always forget he's David McCallum's son* and Michael York's step-son**. Wierd.

(EDIT: *-not true, **-true)

Where did you get that from?

According to IMDB, David McCallum "has a daughter, Sophie, and son, Peter, from his marriage to Katherine Carpenter. Jill Ireland and he had three children, Paul McCallum, Valentine McCallum, and an adopted son, Jason, who died on 7th November 1989 from an accidental drug overdose."

$20 million? That's not bad. Part of me wants it to fail because its just more Lucas schlock, but they played the racism card and that makes me want it to succeed, as BS as the card is in this case (I'm sure no one wanted to distribute the movie because its not very good, not because its a mostly black cast).

Yeah, he's not related to David McCallum; his mother's name is McCallum, but no mention of a father.

Virgin birth? :-P

That's odd- I KNOW I read somewhere that he was David McCallum's son and that Michael York married Rick's mom. I don't know where I would have gotten that otherwise.

Just like me goin' 'round the internet spreading filthy lies. ;-)

EDIT: He IS Michael York's step-son, so at least I got that right:
