That’s what I was looking for for a really long time. Can we download it?

Just curious what the roadmap is like for Part 2? Are we talking weeks/months/years away? Excellent product here, well worth the wait, whatever it may be

For those interested please send me a PM.

Considering the time it took to finish the first part, the second part will likely take weeks if not months. It also depends on some of my other activities.

Super excited for this release, thankyou for your hard work!

I am interested, how does the Upscale process compare to the real 4K releases regarding the process followed?

I have no idea about the original process for the official upscale unfortunately.

Download it once again. English DTS-HD MA ES XLL sound from the Blu-ray is definitely included. Probably something went wrong during the download process. I also had issues after the first Download attempt. But I had glitches in the video stream of the .mkv
After another attempt it worked.

This looks so good. Thanks for your efforts. If only they had someone with your discerning taste when producing the actual versions they put out for sale.

They’re asking if your upscaling process is on same level or better. Comparing the two.

These are definitely better in each and every way apart from the HDR colors in some scenes. The official 4k honestly doesn’t even deserve that title and recolors the some scenes to look completely different from what they were.

Huge letdown. Dr. Dre doing the lord’s work tbh.

Level of Detail is as good if not better than the 4k-Release (Mainly because there is no DNR applied). You might say that the 4k-Bluray looks sharper but that’s only because PJ and his team added digital sharpness on the official release. The Version from DrDre looks more natural imo.

Color grading comes down to taste. The 4k-Bluray might be more neutral but I don’t know if you even want that in a fantasy movie ^^ Either way: This Upscale my favorite version of the Movie and the one I will keep on watching.

I might be editing the movies and remove some scenes from the extended cut which I don’t like.

I personally would love to see to see the theatrical version with the Elves leaving Rivendell and Gabriel’s gift giving scene kept in.

I didn’t know it could happen, but Dr. Dre’s remaster has brought me back almost 22 years. The quality of the resolution and color grading throughout the entire Part 1 is truly breathtaking and makes the 4k bluray (which I ended up watching Part 2 on) look flat. The color grading during scenes in Rivendell especially hit hard, reigniting that feeling of wonder I experienced when I first watched the DVD all those years ago. I honestly didn’t think that feeling was possible to recapture.

Thank you Dr. Dre for returning some magic to this world!

DrDre announced that he wanted to upscale the Extended Edition of TTT and ROTK as well.
But my guess is that this will take maybe a year so I decided to take the Extended Blurays of these movies (which do not suffer from that green tint like the first movie) and delete some scenes which I don’t like.

TTT:
I deleted the scene where Eowyn offers Aragorn a stew of her own making. I don’t like this scene at all. It makes fun of Eowyn’s cooking skills (Why do we need to see that ?). And the conversation about Aragorn’s age is pointless and boring.

ROTK:
I deleted all the extra Army-of-The-Dead-Scenes. Most of them are cheesy and can’t hold their own in terms of quality against the rest of the movie. Plus: I like how the Theatrical Cut leaves it open if Aragorn has succeeded in convincing the King of the Dead to join the fight.

This sounds great! Looking forward to the full extended releases!

Would be helpful to see Screenshot Comparisons, so its easier to directly compare the versions. Since without context, it’s hard to know if it looks different.

I sent a message, wondering if I could receive download files. Getting ready for a marathon of these.
Thanks very much.

I could try to do a comparison between the Extended Bluray (2011) vs 4k Dremastered.
But not until Friday.

and if you guys want a 35mm extended 4k HDR vs Dremastered 4K comparison video let me know.

Here in the UK all 3 extended editions are getting a cinema outing for ROTK 20th anniversary.

I saw FOTR on Friday. Unfortunately the cinema had a fairly low contrast projector, so that was quite disappointing. Initially I thought we were watching a 2k presentation of an older release. It wasn’t till the Mount Doom flashback with the altered colours that I realised that this was the new 4k version of FOTR EE(the end credits confirmed this). The DNR was especially bad on the large cinema screen, quite distracting. If they were using a 4k projector with a 4k DCP I couldn’t tell from the image. The colour changes were not as obvious as on my setup at home.

I just kept thinking, wouldn’t this be great if it was DrDre version. TT is next week, different screen hopefully with better contrast. Not watched the 4K release, but believe the DNR is even worse.

Thanks for taking the time to share those those!

Also be interesting to see 4k Dremastestred version compare to the official 4k.

Comparison between Bluray (2011), 4k Bluray and 4k-Dremastered.
Some shots don’t align. But it should still be possible
to compare the overall picture quality.

NOTE:
Since taking SDR-screenshots of HDR-content (in the case of the 4k Bluray) does not really work,
I used a little trick in VLC-Media-Player to convert from HDR to SDR. Its not perfect so please take the 4k Bluray screenshots with a grain of salt.
