Well…watched it two times already and what can I say…

An amazing edit! It so flawlessly travels throu scenes, combining the three movies with such a great pace.
Althou second time I watched it almost fall asleep in the Riddles in the Dark scene. It seemed longer compared to the time separated for the other scenes. But as we know its an important chapter so maybe there was little to trim from!?

Overall a really great project! A fresh new take on the movies and must watch for every one who thinks of himself as a fan!

I’d be interested in checking this out if I could get a PM. I’ve tried about 5 different Hobbit edits, but I’m always looking for a better definitive cut for my collection.

This looks really interesting, as most of Anjohan projects. Is there any kind soul around that could make te subtitles for it? For the non native is a great help!

Sent you a PM for a link. I’m still pretty new at navigating/fining these fan edits, but I came across also a LotR split into 6 parts similar to the books. Might check out that too as a follow on to this project. Keep up the good work!

Hi Anjohan,

As an amateur editor currently working on my own edit of The Hobbit, I would love a PM of your LOTR-style edit! Having recently got into the Extended Editions of LOTR, it would be great to see a new take on The Hobbit.

This edit will receive an updated version, but both will be available.

  • This new version will cut the small prolonged pause between Bilbo and the farmer in the Shire, that made some people expect more dialogue to come.

  • The second edit will cut the entirety of Azog, The Eagles and the “Tree Root Battle”.

  • The video material is slightly cropped to enhance the feeling of old footage - in other words the feeling of the films being filmed ON FILM, more in the style of LOTR.

This updated version is simply due to the abrupt action peace the Azog scene is and its feel of finality.

RELEASED. V2.

This superior edit of my edit flows better, and has fixed numerous but important transitions, flow, narrative and runtime.

Noteable changes:

  • Riddles In the Dark has been shortened by 1 minute and 40 seconds. This is simply to improve thep pacing of the film. It drags on a tad too long.
  • The Tree Battle has been removed. The film flows way better with it removed and with my narrative changes.
  • The first introduction to Gandalv has been a little bit shortened. I find the conversation too become a little bit too hard on the nose where comedy goes. I think leaving out some comedy helps sell the introduction of this creepy ass wizard showing up out of nowhere a little better. Being insulted like six times in three minutes feels too much.
  • Improved video quality massively.
  • Fixed one harsh audio transition.

… lots more.

There is an error caused around the 4th minute mark when Gandalv and Bilbo meet. Simply forgot to click a button to hide an old close-up. I will fix it very soon. This is the only error.

You can wait to watch the edit, or ignore it and enjoy the rest until I have it fixed. 😃

Well did watch the new version yesterday with a friend. Second time for me and first for her (first time ever watching The Hobbit generally).

I was very impressed how the pacing went. Very much enjoyed the shortened ‘Riddles in the Dark’ and the way the ending battle was fixated upon the main characters! Plus the ending…OHH, the ending…not gonna spoil that for you folks!
Only one thing was strange enough for me, the transition between some scenes with big cuts. Example - going out of the goblin caves, running suddenly into Beorn’s home (who is chasing them). But I may have took too much from the original movies!? Anyways…

She was also very impressed, compared to the LOTR Movies which we saw together, her review was - ‘It looked very much in style like those movies!’ - Which is a great compliment for the project author Andreas!

Keep up the great work, as always! ❤️
