List of films with lossless original tracks not available on Blu-ray or UHD

Hi, everyone!

There are several films that are still, to this day, without their original lossless tracks, neither on Blu-ray nor on the latest UHD editions. The purpose of this thread is to preserve original lossless soundtracks from laserdiscs of those movies to be later synchronized with the Blu-ray and UHD releases.

List of original lossless audios to be captured if someone has the laserdiscs:

-Help!, 1965 (Original lossless mono track)

-Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, 1971 (Original lossless mono track)

-Silver Streak, 1976 (Original lossless mono track)

-Star Trek: The Motion Picture, 1979 (Original lossless dolby stereo track)

-The Dark Crystal, 1982 (Original lossless dolby stereo track)

-The Return of the Living Dead, 1985 (Original lossless mono track)

-Tucker: the Man and His Dream, 1988 (Original lossless dolby stereo track)

-Pet Sematary, 1989 (Original lossless dolby stereo track)

-Adventures in Babysitting, 1987 (Original lossless dolby stereo track)

-Malcolm X, 1992 (Original lossless dolby stereo track)

Any more titles? (I will update this list when more titles appear).

I don’t think there’s a (UHD) blu-ray release of The Dark Crystal with the original Dolby Stereo track…

Oh! Also, Star Trek: The Motion Picture hasn’t had a home release with its original Dolby Stereo track since laserdisc.

The Beatles’ Help! has never had ANY official home release with its theatrical mono audio. Just remixes. For that matter, I’m not sure about A Hard Day’s Night, either…

Also, the extended cut of The Blues Brothers only ever had remixed audio on its digital releases. Its Laserdisc and VHS releases do have Dolby Stereo tracks, but I don’t know whether or not those were sourced from the remix or the original mix…

I’ve also added two more titles that I’ve found:

-Adventures in Babysitting, 1987 (Original lossless dolby stereo track) - blu-ray with 5.1
-Malcolm X, 1992 (Original lossless dolby stereo track) - blu-ray with 5.1

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure doesn’t have the original 2.0 Dolby mix on DVD or Bluray.

Well, from what I have heard from other online sources, the original 1986 Dolby Stereo mix of Don Bluth’s 1986 An American Tail has already been available on laserdisc (as well as VHS), even though it really hasn’t been on DVD or even Blu-Ray, especially what with all that remixing of certain sounds or redubbing of certain lines of dialogue (especially the redubbed voices of the orphan mice who, towards the end of that film, happen to bully Fievel Mousekewitz (whom I even saw as ‘the smallest, cutest leading man in Hollywood’ (similar to how King Kong happen to be ‘the tallest, darkest leading man in Hollywood’ who happen to co-star alongside legendary scream queen Fay Wray in the old 1933 King Kong film) into sorrow), however so permanently or something like that.

But I still do hope that someday, somehow or another, all those issues may finally be put to rest one of these days if Universal (and especially Amblin, Steven Spielberg’s production company) could finally come to their very senses and actually preserve, restore, remaster, even reinstate Don Bluth’s American Tail’s original 1986 theatrical audio mix (especially as much as possible), probably for any upcoming Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray, streaming, or even theatrical/IMAX re-release of the first two American Tail films (especially its equally memorable 1991 sequel, Fievel Goes West), especially by around that film’s 40th or even 50th anniversary or maybe later, and even if the first two American Tail films – both the Don Bluth original and its 1991 sequel Fievel Goes West – and interest in such – will ever get a cultural resurgence one of these days, especially thanks to the future efforts of anyone such as me to especially try and revive interest in An American Tail’s Fievel or the very like of him. Or, maybe not. Who knows?

Does anyone know where I could download lossless mono or stereo tracks for films?. I am saddened by the fact that most blu ray releases do not include their original soundtracks, instead opting for (often inferior) 5.1/7.1 mixes.

English LPCM 2.0 Mono (Unaltered). It’s uncompressed, not lossless or lossy.
Unless if titles released in other regions don’t count then this list is pointless.

I wonder if other releases contain the master audio for their respective films, uncompressed. Hell I wonder if the 35mm film audio is compressed to begin with, even one that is played in theaters.

If so, it’d be interesting to see some classic movies restored to better-than-cinema audio quality, if such a thing is possible.

silver streak LD is the same quality as the web audio which has also better transfer than the Bluray, so i didn’t bother syncing it.

The Star Trek TNG films in 4K will have the same 7.1 audio as the 2009 Blu-Ray discs.

Not sure how original that is or not. Once again there is no Stereo 2.0 Dolby or DTS mix.

But i have my 2 Disc DVD releases of the TNG films and my Laserdiscs of Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection for the original audio. Its not HD but what can you do.
