Funny, it worked fine for me.  Did it manage to complete?

i downloaded it and when i tryed to unzip it it gave me an error and i couldnt extract it :(
I would suggest you try to download it again as the file may not have downloaded completely/correctly.

I had this same issue.  It said the zip was like 206 MB but the file it extracted was 0 MB....it may have been corrupted during upload too...I will try again as well.

I'm sorry people are having problems with this file :( I downloaded the zip file at work today to see if I could replicate the problem but the file downloaded fine, and unzipped fine too. Perhaps before you try downloading again you could try clearing your internet cache etc to make sure your browser gets a fresh copy from the web?

my old Winzip 8.1 complained over invalid filename but maybe later versions can handle it.

anyway I used Winrar instead to uncompress it, no errors.

Not sure if it's just me, but I keep getting the "temporarily unavailable message" with the megaupload download link.

LeeThorogoo, is it possible for you to upload this to youtube/rapidshare?

I hope everyone who has managed to download the sample has been pleased with it! I can happily say that ANH is virtually done, I need to redo the video encode using a slightly lower bit-rate to comfortably fit everything on a DL DVD, once that's done I'll be ready to build the DVD image.

Meanwhile ESB is about 50% rendered so as long as there are no hold ups I am aiming to have ESB completely done by the end of Sunday, which will just leave Jedi to be done next week.

On a side note I have been thinking about having a go at doing my own preservation of the 1995 French THX LaserDisc set with English audio and I was wondering if this is something people would be interested in?

Since I lost my LD player in the divorce, I'd certainly like to have NTSC DVD's of the SE and bonus materials, if anyone can point me in the right direction.

This question is probably best answered by reading this thread: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/DVNR-smearing-in-GOUT-not-in-the-master-Or-is-the-1995-release-a-different-master-altogether/topic/11856/

I am not aware of any set that fully preserves the NTSC 97 SE LDs which to my knowledge had additional special features to the PAL set.

As I say its just something I have been thinking about, I would need to acquire the French 1995 LaserDisc set first.

Crap.  :(  Well, I have the LD's if someone who knows what they're doing wants to tackle it.

In regards to the 1997 S.E. Laserdiscs....I have the U.S. Black LD box, the Japan Silver Box, and the Japan 2000 (ish?) Box with the new artwork.....I believe the only difference aside from the burnt in Japanese subtitles is that the 2000(ish) set had the Episode 1 preview like the VHS box set did.

I would be interested as well.  I just received my 1995 Faces LD set made in Japan with the sleeve art that was printed in the U.S..  They are sealed at this point and I got them for dirt cheap.

My SIMA color corrector came as well so I am going to do a few test runs as I need to learn how to use it properly.

UPDATE:

The SIMA color corrector doesn't do all that well with my LD player and I'm bummed.

It will probably serve the S-VHS player much better.

Actually, it is Episode II.  :)

Is anyone planning on doing the 1997 SE set with the bonus features?

Yeah, I realized that once I read your reply.  My bad..............LOL

As for the bonus features.....I could do a capture specifically about the bonus features.....then maybe see if someone wanted to put them to their own disc with a nice menu revolving around the Faces set.  My DVD recorder only does DD 2.0 audio @ 256kbps but I'm sure we could find someone to rip the AC3 audio for the bonus features so we could add it as an audio option.

Just a thought anyways.

Sorry Lee, I'm not trying to hijack your thread....just so you know.

If anyone who reads this thread has the 1995 PAL THX LaserDisc set (the set was only released in France, Germany and Spain) and would be willing to sell/trade or loan their set then please PM me, otherwise I will just keep my eye on a well known auction site and see if I have any luck there.

Sorry I have no plans to do a preservation of the NTSC 97 SE set, however there may be a NTSC conversion of this release, I'll let you know more when I do.

UPDATE on the V2 release, the DVD image for ANH is completely finished, I do need to burn and test this but I am out of Verbatim DL DVDs at the moment so that will have to wait until I can get some more. ESB is on course to be finished by the close of play tomorrow. :D

Lee,

I may be able to send you a 10 pk of dual layers, they'd be JVC (Taiyo Yuden) which are 2nd only to the Verbatims, just as reliable, and made in Japan.

As for my SIMA update above...I did not take in to consideration the settings for my Pioneer Elite DVL-90.  I currently use Cinema2 for watching movies with the V-DNR set @ variable with basic settings for the Y/C.  I did NOT test the other settings and probably should have before making that statement.  I will do a few more tests.

I am very excited about your stuff Lee...I'm sure they will look very nice.

:)

In other news, the DVD image for ESB is now finished! :D as Fox McCloud says "There's one more to go..."

I used HandBrake to do a H.264 encode of ANH over night which I am watching on my 26" LCD TV now, and I can confirm ANH looks VERY NICE! I am so pleased I ditched all the "enhancement" filters and kept it simple, in this case less is so much more! :D I can't wait to finish this release and share it with you all.
