The first run of DVDs of the BTTF trilogy were not done right. 2 of the 3 movies almost look like a pan-and-scan version of the movie trimmed to look widescreen.

Or something like that.

Regardless, they didn't come out right, and the manufacturer had to replace them.

Justin's right about the BTTF line.

Follow that up the next day with...

"Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain."
"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia'."

No, there were a handfull of scenes which were incorrectly framed. And Universal freely made an offer to replace the discs with incorrect framing, they didn't have to.

I disagree, I think that they shouldnt have a choice in something like that. They put out a defective product...they should fix it. When cars have problems they have recalls and fix the defects. Other products are like that too (baby seats). All beit they are saftey concerns but a defective product is a defective product. You have the same thing in software, Bug fixes to current versions are free. Why shouldnt movies be held to the same standards.

By the same though process, Lusafilm should have to replace every single dvd that is currently out to fix all the sound and other editing problems (light sabers, etc) Oh, wait, nevermind...thats how lucas intended it to be so its not defective.

Lol, I never realized Lucas was so carefree in his editing. I only have the 97 SE & it seems OK to me, not as bad as his latest. I can't understand how you can call it your artwork or whatever, & not care about such blatent mistakes. At least have some fans review it first, tell you any issues that may arise.

Maybe if you are hyped up on acid, the movie is perfect. Lucas may be trying to appeal to the new generation....hyped up on acid...lol

Star Wars the Red Cordial Editions.
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Goering.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." - Goebbels.

"In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." - Orwell.

I just read this in an article about the DVDs menus in SW Insider (I believe this was on the official site). It's a quote by Van Ling regarding a tricky loop for the ESB DVD menu's AT-AT...

Additionally, Ling points out that it would have been just as easy to create a CG version of the walker, but that wouldn't hold true to the film's medium. "These are the original, time-less films, and we wanted the menus to reflect that."

First of all...what?

Lucas has had no problem using CG to "enhance" the films, so what is Ling really talking about? Also, he claims that they are the original films...not quite.

Finally, if they're so "timeless", then why have they been altered since 1997? Blast it!

I havent noticed any of the Walkers in the movie replaced by CGI. They all still look like models to me.

maybe, but he has replaced other things with CGI.

Yeah.... But the article was 'bout the AT-ATs in the Hoth menu, right?

True, I just wish Lucas would have listened to the advice and applied it to the O-OT.

True, but he claimed the films were the originals and that replacing something with CG wouldn't hold true...it just makes no sense, no matter what he was talking about.

Oh. Gotcha. The flims are not in the original version, so it is OK to mess with the walkers..

I understand now.

No it is not ok to mess with that walkers or any other part of the O-OT.

These posts about CG have gotten me thinking.

Do you think Lucas would have the unmitigated gall to just rebuild Star Wars completely, from scratch, in a computer? He could have everything just the way he wanted, even if it breaks universal and natural laws.

As if it didn't break those obsolete pieces of legislation in 1977?...
