I see what you did there.

Saw the first episode of Awake. looks interesting, might stick with it and see where it goes..

I still need to check out Shameless, Sherlock and Dirk Gently.

Try and find the pilot for Dirk first.

It's got elements from the first book (but none of the really out there ones which is why I didn't really like it at the time).

I haven't read DG so I don't really have any expectations going in.

Been watching Young Justice.  A suitable and more than adequate successor to the DC Animated Universe series Justice League.  Different universe - with a few familiar faces as always.

Produced by the guy behind Disney's Gargoyle's from the '90s, Greg Weisman.  Give it a shot if you're a fan of DC and open to new interpretations of the universe.

I never really got into DS9 when it first aired, so I've decided to watch it. Currently on season 3, and so far my feelings are mixed. The storyline is interesting and the characters are ok (admittedly, I'm having a harder time connecting with them than I did with the TOS and TNG crews), but it's nowhere nearly as gripping and interesting as, say, Babylon 5.

I've heard that the last four seasons are quite a bit better than the first three, so hopefully that's accurate. I wouldn't say it's been bad so far by any means...just not exactly captivating.

I agree with all of this completely. I started watching DS9 a couple of years back, with it being the only Trek series I'd only managed to catch one or two episodes of. I made it about halfway through season 3 over the course of several months back in 2010, and have never managed to come back to it. They are still there waiting for me, and I still intend to watch them sometime, but for over a year now, I just haven't been in the mood for them and have had more interesting thing to watch.

"Not exactly captivating" is a great way to put it.

I'm sure you've probably heard this before, but yeah, the last four seasons are considerably better than the first three. This seems to be a a problem with trek series, where at least one season has to completely suck.

For TOS it was season three, for TNG it was seasons one and two, for DS9 it seasons one - three, for VOY it was seasons one - seven, for Enterprise it was seasons one-three...

Stick with it guys, it really is a great show.

DS9 gets better once The Dominion makes its appearance.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

I rather liked Voyager once Kes left and Enterprise was quite a giggle in season three.

Voyager had some really cool episodes caught in the midst of a lot of really mediocre to bad ones.

The nature of the show's storyline gave them the opportunity to visit some really cool concepts. It kind of went back to the roots of Star Trek, which was originally a show about exploring the universe and stumbling on some really weird things along the way. Later seasons of TNG and all of DS9 really dropped that concept and focused on other things (like sitting around tables having long talks about diplomacy, then going out and shooting stuff).

So much this. Kes leaving was the "growing Riker's beard" of Voyager. It's just a fun series, really.

Every time someone mentioned her by name I got a Brian Glover flashback (all my worst PE teachers in one).

It was also a bit creepy to have that comedy space cook having it off with a three year old with a bad wig.

So...Growing a Riker beard is kinda the opposite of jumping a Shark on skis?

From what I understand Battlestar Galactica is what Voyager would have been like if Ron Moore had his way..

I think there's only about 5 people that liked Enterprise, myself included.

Incidentally - anyone else seen the teaser trailer for BSG: Blood and Chrome? - looks pretty flashy but there's not a lot to go on yet, just a lot of action scenes set to Trent Reznor's version of Immigrant song.

Cool to see classic era cylons, raiders and basestars.

Been checking out AWAKE and it's interesting so far.

The Walking Dead is getting interesting but it's still pretty uneven. Although they HAVE been killing off a lot of 'red shirts' so i guess it has no choice but to get better...

still got a lot of stuff on my 'to check out' list...

The Blood And Chrome trailer if you can find it is probably all you will ever see of the show.

It seems to be everything the Caprica detractors wanted but SyFy is even less keen for B&G to be on the air than they were with the other spin off.

Caprica had much more interesting story lines than The Walking Dead or Dexter or even Fringe recently and for some reason they keep on going so why they couldn't have evolved Caprica into more the sort of show B&C looked like being over a second season infuriates me.

It's gone the way of Babylon 5 now.

We will never get a continuation of that universe.

Especially all the time Bryan Singer keeps whispering about a film revival of the original television series with reptilian Cylons and robot daggits.

That is the exact definition (WARNING: link to TVTropes, only click if you have nothing better to do for the rest of the day).

It certainly sounds like it by the first few commentaries I've listened to on BSG. He talks a lot about how you have to shoot Trek a certain way, from certain angles only, and how he deliberately had them avoid doing any of that on BSG.

Looks so awesome. I'm especially eager to see how they do the Galactica without any sets. They filmed most of it on greenscreen and just recreated the sets from the series in CG. This was supposed to save money, but I don't understand how it could be cheaper... But the only Cylons I noticed looked too much like the new models from the series, not the toasters they showed in flashbacks.

Too bad SyFy is hell-bent on not releasing this, even though its been done and sitting on a shelf since November. Come on, we want to give you money to watch this. I will buy a Blu-ray tomorrow for $30 based on that clip they didn't want released, which is $30 more than they have now. They say they want to make it into a web series, but I don't see SyFy taking that risk, unless they just sold it off to Hulu or Netflix and let them take care of it.
Been checking out AWAKE and it's interesting so far.
I will be upset when (not if) this show gets cancelled because no one gets it. After we watch the pilot, I turned to my wife and said "I know we'll get a satisfyingly ending to this. Worst case scenario, it gets cancelled and they add a black screen to the last episode saying 'The Son Universe was the real one. Sorry if you thought it was the Wife Universe. The End.'" ;-)

RE: awake - I think there's more to it than that, but I don't want to dig too deep atm and just enjoy the ride.

These Syfy guys clearly have absolutely no idea how to handle science fiction or fans of it - maybe they could spend a little cash to bring somebody on board who does...rather than spending a lot of money on projects that just get shelved or cancelled.

I'm sure they could have just done short seasons of Caprica and B&G and just leapfrog them - covering all the bases.

and RE: babylon 5 - did anyone actually manage to stick with it al the way through? I read a lot to fill in the gaps but I'm sure I missed quite a lot.

B5 I saw each and every moment at least five times (well twice was quite enough for the awful Legend Of The Rangers).

By no means perfect but for it's time head and shoulders above what Star Trek was trying to do.

Newest episode of Fringe (4x15 "A Short Story About Love").

Finally the question of "Is Peter already home, or is he somewhere else?" is answered - and it's the exact answer I expected.  So I'm happy with that.  And it looks like the state of Peter and Olivia's relationship is settled (for now, at least), too.  So I'm happy with that, too.

I felt like the case-of-the-week was very good - some are calling it truncated, but I for one was glad I was able to make up my own mind about the disfigured man's motives rather than have it all spelled out for me in the end.

I also love seeing showrunners tackle directing - you can really tell that Wyman put a lot of thought into how he shot the episode, particularly with the little asides to Lincoln's face throughout the episode.  I've been there, my friend, and yes, I know it sucks.  He's portraying the friendzoned part of a love triangle quite well.

All in all, it was an average-to-slightly-above-average episode.  Didn't reach the heights of "One Night in October" (still reigning as my all-time favorite Fringe episode, where it's been since it aired) or "White Tulip," but it wasn't bad, either.

Hell yeah!  Sherlock is simply amazing.  I'm particularly happy with what they did with Moriarty - I was wary of his characterization in Series 1, but after Series 2 I wouldn't have had him any other way.

"People have died!" "That's what people DO!"

Eric Porter is my Moriarty.

If I were writing Sherlock I'd have had that Moriarty a decoy for the real one who is less wacky.

The one we had is too much like the John Simm Master which was an entertaining mistake in it's own right.
