There's a cooking show called "Annie and Sally's Grocery Bag" (or something) where two women who aren't good cooks and don't know how to use fancy cooking stuff try out cookbooks and are then judged by some famous cook.

I dig it because I can relate to the hosts. My wife and I have had it on in the background for our morning routine for a few days now.

Planet of the Apes (The T.V. series) (1974)

Not a bad series at all. Too bad it did not get a chance at improving with a second season. Roddy McDowall (Galen) and Mark Lenard (General Urko) are truly excellent as the Apes leads of the show. The two human astronauts are a bit bland, but not horrible. James Naughton is the better actor and personality of the two.

The final episode of Stargate Universe.

I wouldn't say the show was "just getting good", I thought it was enjoyable enough. Maybe just starting to find its stride. Either way, this being the last episode even if they didn't know it was when they finished was pretty good. What would have just been a cliffhanger is a bitter-sweet quasi-ending, more of a "who knows?" than a "we have one more episode, we have to get them home NOW!" (I'm looking at you, Voyager).

Its kind of weird not having any kind of Stargate being made. I mean, I got into it within the last 5 years or so, but I already miss the potential. Is this what Enterprise fans felt like when it was cancelled? Does this mean I should expect a shiny reboot of Stargate within the next few years? ;-)

yeah. I mean if they'd gotten to this point sooner it'd have been more interesting but then it probably would have felt rushed.

agreed re: voyager.

and re: enterprise - no that was much worse, the real kick in the nuts being that the penultimate episode [of enterprise] was pretty good and a decent farewell...i guess a similar situation - started good then floundered for a bit then started to find its stride but it was too late by then.

I am so mad tat sfdebris reviews are taken down from YouTube.  Also makes me worry about my own Trek-related reviews...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I don't get it. Because he's doing reviews he should be able to use clips under fair use.

Am watching the entire run of 'The New adventures of Superman' also known as 'Lois and Clark'.

Over here, when it was first broadcast in the 90s (the best era for television ever) they just called it the new adventures of superman, not Lois and Clark.

Hmmm...

That's a very common practice. No idea why. Batman Beyond was Batman of the Future in the UK, for example.

The link below leads to a list of shows in the UK based in American ones. Many of the shows are the exact same format, but have a new name (like Family Feud --> Family Fortunes):

I thought we only stole good ideas from them!

There was a UK version of "Who's The Boss?"? I'm sorry.

Oh yeah! I remember that! Completely forgot it's original UK name when I had got them on DVD

^Yeah, I've seen that link, too. Short list.

I remember one Saturday afternoon during our regular airing of Batman Beyond when the network it was on (Global TV in Ontario) aired the UK opening and I saw the Batman of the Future title card. That was strange and cool. :)

True story. Though I thought it was funny the American version of The Office went over so well that it even airs in the UK as The Office: An American Workplace. Three's Company was extremely well received too though, and is considered a classic here. So we seem to get it right sometimes, at least.

Life on Mars is one of my absolute all time favorite shows, just started watching through it again this week. Every time I fall in love with it all over again. The American remake was absolutely atrocious! Really need to get my hands on Ashes to Ashes, never seen a single episode.

Spaced is required viewing. In general. I'm glad the American one never took off. The show was a distinctly British comedy of its time (turn of the millennium). Making it modern day and just moving the characters to the US was an awful idea.

Hmmm...

From what I've read, they were afraid that non-American audiences wouldn't get that the title is a pun on Lewis and Clark... although I do not know why that would matter...

I watched the show before I learned about that in history, so "Lewis and Clark" crack me up to read about.
