I watched a few movies over the weekend:

'Welcome to macintosh' A documentary on apple. It was interesting if you own a mac but it wasn't great.

3 of 5 balls

'Transcendent Man' Very thought provoking.I don't think it will happen in the time the guy says but still a must watch.

5 of 5 balls

'The Stranger' with Orson Welles. The first in my new Film Noir kick. I liked it a lot better than I expected.

5 of 5 balls

'Where eagles Dare'

Thrilling.

10 balls out of 11

(minus one ball because common sense got in the way in one bit)

Are you aware of the Star Wars connection to Where Eagles Dare?

EDIT: I think Zombie might have written about it in his book.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

I think I have, but I've slept since I've read his book. What was it again?

Someone (perhaps Zombie) allegated that while the larger plot structure of Star Wars may have been borrowed from Hidden Fortress (as is often retold) that the bits inside the Death Star seem to be coming from elsewhere.  This person hypothesizes that those scenes are adapted from Where Eagles Dare, what with the wookiee prisoner and all that.  And then Dam Busters for the finale.

I was raised to believe Floyd sold out after Animals so The Wall isn't my style.

Devil - 5/10

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

Barry Lyndon - 10/10

My third time through, showed it to my cousin who is new to Kubrick. He loved it.

The visuals in it are incredible. Especially the Goodbye Blue Sky scene. The animation is beautiful. They also really pulled off having hardly any dialogue!

Do you own it Anchorhead? (the movie, I mean)

Oddly enough, considering some of the rare Floyd stuff I have,  no I do not.  I should remedy that.

Probably not even on the radar of anyone under the age of 30, but the lead in the film is Bob Geldof. Back then he was very well known as the lead singer for a group called The Boomtown Rats. I was never a fan of him personally or the Boomtown Rats, but he was perfectly cast as the lead for the film version of The Wall.

Bob Hoskins has a small part in it too.  Probably even less known than Geldof these days though.

Man, as a Pink Floyd fan since the 70s, I don't think it's possible to disagree with that statement any more than I do.  To me, Animals was a huge let down after Wish You Were HereThe Wall was Floyd hitting their creative stride again.

Even though I do like Boomtown Rats, any part where Geldof sings in The Wall just makes me cringe. :\

My rating too. Although I think I might have enjoyed IV more than III this time around. I used to think the same as xhonzi - that the junkyard scene was the best thing in Superman but not anymore. I think I'll stick to the first two from now on...

After just renting them I really don't want to spend more money on those two.

Maybe in a few months...

I'll have to check it out. I must say Redeemed does interest me, and its ratings are very good.

This movie is amazing. Watch it.

NOW.

I saw Roger Waters perform The Wall live last month.  Still relevant today.  Lots footage from the film used in the show, great stuff.

War does not make one great.

Again, don't forget to check out "Superman Redeemed", y'alls!

Funny you should say that.

I was looking at the info page of this fan edit the other day, and that is what made me look at Quest for Peace. I was just so amazed at how bad it was for me this viewing. It must just be the getting older thing.

I've always hated the term "sold out" anyway.  Good music is good music.

Damn, I wish I could've gone to one of those shows. I saw his Dark Side of the Moon tour back in 2007 and it was breathtaking.
