The film Dear Evan Hansen is a good adaptation that carries on the message that you are never alone.

I was watching Remo Williams and i couldn’t finish it. The ending was so boring.

The movie was just too ridiculous.

Can’t believe it is from Guy Hamilton. I almost feel bad he directed this.

The Craft

It was pretty good. Not the best spooky film I’ve seen before but there were definitely some great moments and elements. I think it’s a film that will age better with repeat viewings as I won’t be watching it with expectations of what will happen.

I hope everybody has been experiencing a spooktastic Halloween!

"Pleasure’s fun. It’s great, but you can’t keep it going forever; just accept the fact that it’s here and it’s gone, and maybe then again, it will come back, and you’ll get to do it again. Joy lasts forever. Pleasure is purely self-centered. It’s all about your pleasure: it’s about you. It’s a selfish, self-centered emotion, that is created by a self-centered motive of greed. Joy is compassion. Joy is giving yourself to somebody else, or something else. And it’s a kind of thing that is, in its subtlety and lowness, much more powerful than pleasure. You get hung up on pleasure; you’re doomed. If you pursue joy; you will find everlasting happiness.” - George Lucas

I watched Bond 25 No time to Die. The worst James Bond since Quantum of Solace. Not going to spoil the film but it was so disappointing. I wanted to like it but it felt very uneven and flat and paint by numbers. I’d give it two and a half stars.

Maybe i set myself up hoping it was going to be poignant and heartbreaking like OHMSS. It felt forced. Craig showed zero emotion or gravitas like he was going through the motions.

The Cinematography wasn’t spectacular, the action was listless and boring. The music was muted and almost not there.

Lashana was very good but she is barely in the movie. Honestly all the supporting characters feel like they weren’t well developed. Money Penny and Q and M, and Felix and etc etc.

Weak Villain and even weaker plot/maguffin.

I thought it was great. Safin was a really lackluster element for me, he was a villain with lots of style but zero substance - we don’t even know his motivation for killing millions of people. But I thought this was a very emotionally charged film and a great ending to the Daniel Craig films. I love how it returns to the gadgetry and campy action roots of the franchise while also taking unprecedented story directions.

The Rain People by Francis Ford Coppola.

It’s probably best known as the film that catapulted George’s career as he was Francis’s assistant on the film and made the documentary Filmmaker on its production. He also worked on THX 1138. It was his second film out of USC after Finian’s Rainbow where he won a scholarship to Warner Bros and watched Francis. Marcia Lucas and Walter Murch were also notably involved.

Anyways, the film itself was a slow burner but very beautifully shot and got better and better as it went along. I really loved the character study of a woman leaving her husband while pregnant and coming across two very different men on her road trip. One who appears to be quite dumb but it’s actually something else entirely and the other who is very clever and sly but also has a history of his own. It’s a quieter film with a lot to say.

I highly recommend it if you want to see an important part of what truly kickstarted the history of all the films we know and love but also want to see a slice of life from an age not so different from now.

The film Eternals is an interesting installment in the Marvel Universe which has the message that family should be followed over the plots of others.

Saw Last Night in Soho tonight, already planning to see it again. Very wacky, very inventive and very different mystery/psychological horror film which isn’t doing amazing at the box office right now so go support it if it sounds like your thing!

Both are fantastic. George is a great interviewee when he has someone equally as intellectual as he is to talk to but more often than not it’s journalists going through the motions.

His conversation with Bill Moyers and to an extent conversations through the years with Charlie Rose really shine a light on his knowledge and wisdom. He has a lot to share but he doesn’t get asked to do many interviews or ones of substance. It’s a real shame but Paul Duncan’s book for the Prequels apparently has a lot of his thoughts on many areas of life. I really want to read it.

Spencer, a new film about Princess Diana, is very good. Slow, thoughtful and sad with a moving performance from Kristen Stewart, who is proving what a great actor she is. Makes you think what it would be like to live amongst the royal family with all their stifling, maddening customs.

I’m pretty sure that even Queen Elizabeth herself would like to just go out and do regular people stuff like shopping, eating at a restaurant and so on every once in a while.

Pain & Gain marks the first time Dwayne Johnson proved he can act. He was very believable as the gullible pushover who’s easily manipulated and taken advantage of.
