I never thought there was much to the “mythology” of it beyond some very vaguely intriguing tiny bits dropped in the first one.

There was quite a bit, but it was all in the viral marketing, which has never been done better.
You can check it out using this handy guide.

Oh cool I see, I kinda remember that stuff but it was years ago (a decade!). I was just talking about the movie itself.

Plot?

Yeah. I was disappointed because I felt it didn’t fully deliver on presenting a complex relationship. It was certainly strange, but not complex.

I thought it was fairly complicated in subtle ways. And I thought the ending was perfect. One of my favorite PTA films.

Care to expand on THE VOID? (glad someone else has seen it now!)

I thought the cosmology of the film’s universe was vaguely explained, which was a tad bothersome. Beyond that, I found it a solid film (and a great homage to Carpenter).

Watched Black Panther today with the fam; not the most original story line but a decent entry with a great cast. 3 litter boxes out of a possible 5.

I’ve never been able to finish the original NotLD. Found it terribly boring.

This. I have tried several times and can’t finish it either, which is weird because I generally love zombie movies.

Might be sacrilege to say this, but the 1990 remake is pretty damn good and very faithful to the original in spirit while greatly improving the female lead and throwing in some curveballs to those familiar with the original (so it’s not boring as shit like the 1990s Psycho or anything). I’d recommend giving it a shot.

I don’t prefer it to the original, mind you - I’m recommending it in the same way someone might recommend a faithful film adaptation of a novel to someone who couldn’t quite get into the book.

Doesn’t sound like the 10/10 movie it’s being made out to be. I heard that it even beats The Dark Knight, which made my hopes go up only to realize that the critic that wrote that is probably insane.

I guess I’m insane too then because I really don’t care for Batnolan.

The former does not depend on the later, but it is true nonetheless.

Yeah, he liked a movie more than another movie. Truly insane! 😛

I haven’t rewatched TDK in a couple years, so idk.

Yeah but it’s basically as far as super hero movies went so far. You could argue Iron Man or even Spider Man 2 if you really want to, but that’s about it for me.

I am rather fond of the 1966 film, myself.

Most live-action superhero adaptations are mediocre. Why? Because superheroes don’t work well in the medium. The only medium which has done them proper justice outside of comics is animation.

There. Now I’m the insanest one of all.

You guys are dead to me.
Not undead. Just the regular kind.

I didn’t say it was boring, just suggesting one way to enjoy it. I appreciate it’s place in the genre, but it’s not something I’d watch when I’m feeling down. The Rifftrax live show had me in stitches, President Obama! Thank goodness you’re here!, but even they called it quits before the uplifting ending. 😉
