A Nightmare on Elm street [2010]

The trailer looked good. The trailer lied.

the worst crime [of many] the film commits is that it's boring...

Am I one of the minority that prefers Casino to Goodfellas?

Batman the Animated Series Volume One. It doesn't get any better than that opening...

I'm not sure which one is better, if any.  They are both great movies.

I have yet to find the US version of  The Office has lost any of it's charm and ability to produce contextual facepalm slap injuries (I prefer it to the original series).

In The Loop was ok but The Thick Of It is painfully funny in the same toe curling 'I can't believe they just did that' sort of way.

Malcolm Tucker is the world's second funniest comedy bully (next to Jamie McDonald in the same show who is even more hilariously aggressive).

Just started to watch "The Thick Of It" tonight. It's brilliant!

Last film seen: "A Hard Day's Night" I've seen it over 100 times now, and it never gets old for me.

Don't make the mistake I made of watching The Thick Of It while eating...the mess, Oy Veh!

Last proper film I watched was The Mothman Prophecies, which was like a much better than average X-files story, with lots of really creepy subliminal bits chucked in. Based on true events (in this case very, very loosely) is usually a call sign for danger but I was pleasantly surprised.

I also recently watched Dracula Dead And Loving It on fastforward (Christ Almighty we moan about George Lucas but Mel Brookes must have been swapped with a body double sometime after High Anxiety).

just saw "The Wicker Man" (1973) this morning. Really good. Decided to seek it after some days ago the 2006 remake played on tv. What were they thinking remaking this movie? Jeez, that was atrocious! It had little to do with the original movie. And Nicholas Cage??? Wtf??

Could be worse at least you didn't watch the remakes of The Lady Killers or Edge Of Darkness.

to be honest, I didn't watch all the remake, I just saw a few scenes (I never watch tv anyway), but I had already seen a review, so I was aware of its stupidity.

Also, they remade the ladykillers? as in the one with Guinness and Sellers????

Where's my axe????

It was just that it was the bloody Coen Brothers and it had **Shudder** Tom Hanks in Sir Alec's role.

Blue Skies on Mars (Jorge's fanedit of Total Recall).
http://fanedit.org/11442/

Repost of my fe.org review:

I'm not an Arnold fan. He's never offered me anything other than OTT violence and one-liners, which is just not my thing. But I am a big fan of the Terminator films, because they are sci-fi films with Arnold in them, rather than the other way around.

I've always had mixed feelings about Total Recall. To me this is a movie that is both a sci-fi and Arnold film at the same time. I watch it for the sci-fi, but cringe at the Arnold. And so I was curious to see what Jorge planned for this film. When I read his thoughts on the film, I realized this fanedit was made just for me. And after watching it, I was thrilled to see that the Arnold factor was indeed greatly reduced.

Beyond that, I also really enjoyed the mementomixing of the film. This is an ideal movie to give this treatment to, and it works really well. In fact, I found myself disappointed when I realized the two narratives had joined and we would only be moving forward from that point on. Not that I would suggest anything different, but it was just a "awwww, too bad" kind of moment.

The change to color near the end was put in the perfect place, and the last shot of the edit left me with a big smile on my face.

Audio and video cuts were invisible. The video quality is a little rough as others have mentioned, but it wasn't terribly distracting. I would be interested to see how this would look using the Blu source, however. I used headphones while watching so I didn't get a chance to check out the 5.1 mix, but since I will definitely watch this again in the future, I will listen to it at some point.

I didn't expect this to become my go-to version of Total Recall, but by turning this film into a sci-fi film rather than an Arnold film, Jorge has put his version on my shelf.

9/10

Sounds good, I'll have to check it out.  I actually like Arnold, but it's kind of an aquired taste.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

A friend persuaded me to watch this mess. What happened to Mel?? Just tasteless.

Goodfellas.

And what is the best of two gud filums in your onion?

The latter is the better flick for Scorsese, so you worked them back to front my friend. It seems Casino emulaulates the success too much for my liking...but what do i knowz

I still can't make up my mind, but perhaps Casino edges Goodfellas, a little.

Tonight I watched Roger Corman's answer to Star Wars

"Battle Beyond The Stars"

Not all that bad of a script, and the ultra low budget made it kind of endearing. Great James Horner music. Very much in the same style as his "Star Trek" and "Krull" scores. And, the hero's ship had breasts!

I have just re-watched the first two episodes of Brideshead Revisited.

Adywan has outdone himself.

It is such an improvement on Brideshead The Special Edition.

As do most Grindhouse flicktures.

Nostalgia, i guess.

Looking forward to Machete despite it being based on a spoof trailer. Something new.
