HP7P2

I'm impressed they managed to bring a traditional movie out of the last act of the book. I liked it, but it does not stand alone at all, and I think they didn't go far enough in explaining something that you would understand had you read the books. I'd go into more detail, but we'd need spoiler tags.

Oh, by the way, my favorite line was Voldemort telling Snape "You killed Dumbeldore." I leaned over to my friend and whispered too-loudly "SPOILER" ;-)

The Beach.

I had no idea until the end credits rolled that it was a Danny Boyle movie.  All I remembered about it before watching was that it was Leo's first movie after Titanic.

Not half bad, although it goes off the rails in the last 1/3 of the movie or so.

Easy A. I don't know what I was thinking either, it was 1:00 at night, there was nothing else on, you know how it is...

I couldn't watch it. I gave it a chance, but I found myself hoping for it to hurry up and end, so I just changed the channel.

I think there were some good ideas, they were just executed poorly. That's pretty much how all comedy is becoming.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Did I give it a seven!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I meant five! Fixed.

EDIT: And I also got the title wrong? What's wrong with me today?

Fixed again. Sheesh.

I also liked Easy A.

The Tillman Story - 8 Excellent Human Beings out of 10

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

Cast Away. I miss when Robert Zemeckis made real movies, like this one.

Jacob's Ladder 1990

I had never seen it before, and I don't really know what to say about it. I have a deep desire to watch it again. Somebody told me it was scary, but it wasn't really, though it did have some things that could be seen as scary. I think I liked it.

I'll avoid rating it. I think it will take a few more times before I've made up my mind.

I agree it's hard to rate. I think it had me until the ending. Still an overall good amount of balls.

    A double-feature

Labyrinth (first time I've seen it.) There's something to be said for puppets. It might be interesting to see a fan-edit of this film to make the pace and story arc a bit more like 'WOOz' and to tighten it up a little.

The Black Hole (Disney '79) There's something to be said for matte paintings. Takes me back to when I was a kid.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I hadn't seen it for a while.  Amazing movie, although it does drag at times.

The Runaways.

meh

They're in pre-production for a film version of the Brian K. Vaughn Runaways comics, presumably also titled "Runaways".  I've never seen the chick band one, but I can't wait for this.

Reminds me of Crossroads (the 1986 Ralph Macchio blues road film) and Crossroads (the 2002 Britney Spears teen dramedy) - one is so great and the other is miserable, and people always think I'm talking about the miserable one.  Frustrating.

Monsters (2010) : Interesting high concept, low budget road/boat movie guest starring giant Cephalopoids.

Looks really beautiful, the performances are measured, the direction and editing are spot on.

It's not the monster action flick that some IMDB users may have been expecting but is that a bad thing?
