Darth Vader: [deep voice] Luke, I'm your father.
Luke: Really?
Darth Vader: No, not really. I can't back that up.
Luke: Right. Idiot, yes

After the scene of Ani's rebirth as Darth Vader he should come out and say something evil in James Earl Jone's and then it should cut to Obi-wan taking baby Luke to Owen and Beru, who just got married or something and he should tell them to raise Luke and say something about him being the Galaxy's only hope--to tie it in with Episode four. And then it cuts to the Imperial fleet with the Imperial March playing and then we see Vader and Palpatine together and they have a mercifully brief evil discussion and then it cuts to the credits.

i think this would make it too obvious that vader is lukes father...

but then again i think no matter what way Lucas does it he's gonna give it away in some form...
anyone agree?

yeah well, anyway, it will be made clear that Anakin Skywalker = Darth Vader with the transformation scene. and when in ANH we get told that Luke Skywalker's father was called Anakin, it gets obvious.

do you think that people in 50 years who have never seen any SW flick should see first the originals and then the prequels or the other way round? i'd say originals first to keep that 'vader is luke's father' twist.

i totally agree...
it also prevents them from seeing TPM first which may turn them off from the whole saga alltogether...

I can't imagine what it would be like to watch the trilogy for the first time starting with the new movies first. I would definitely say watching the OT's first would be better, but I would be very interested to see how people reacted to seeing them with the new ones first. I think it would take alot away from the OT's; You woul know who Luke and Obi Wan really are, as well as C3PO and R2D2; And the whole scene introducing Yoda would be ruined; The "I am your father" scene would be a waste of time; The Emperor would be less interesting as we have already met him; Not sure how you would react to Boba when he first appears; and there are probably a few other things...

But like I said, it would be interesting to hear from the perspective of someone who watched the prequels first; did they find them believable? Did they seem to fit in with the OT's in terms of story or was it obvious that they were added as an afterthought? Questions noone who saw the OT's first can really answer without being biased.

I will definately be watching them 1,2,3,4,5,6 for the most of the time, but you have brought up a question I have been wrestling with. How do you show someone new to Star Wars, the right way story wise or the OT first. I have to see Epi.3 first, but I am leaning toward the PT actually. It does depend on the age though. If they're young I would probably show them the OT first since it has less overall action then the PT and kids love action. Either way, like I said, it will be a tough decision.

i will show my kids 4,5,6...

and then when they get older i may expose them to the SE and then to the prequels...
this is the way i saw them... and this is the way we all saw them...
i think its only fair they experience them the way the director gave them to us!

and when my kids are much much older i will show them the holiday special... lol
dont want them to have nightmares now...

I think the fact that seeing the PT first would ruin the experience of OT, as most of you said, shows that the PT is not as good as it should have been. It is only interesting as an afterthought to see how the situation at the start of ANH came to be. And that does not justify three movies. Maybe it would have been better if GL had done ep 7, 8 and 9. at least they would be relevant. But it could also have been worse. It's even more upsetting when the characters you know and love are ruined. At least in the PT there are mostly new characters, excepting Anakin, Obi and the Emperor.

hey, maybe we should get that machine from "eternal sunshine" to get the memories of SW wiped out to see how it feels like to wath them 'in order'........no, i take it back, it's not worth it...

Watching it on order (1-2-3-4-5-6) would be interesting. Bobba Fett's appearence would be kinda shocking, and quite a surprise. "I am you father" would still be a powerful line, because of the emotional impact on Luke ("oh now he knows it"), Leia kissing Luke would make people laugh, the new celebration scene at the end of ROTJ would make a little more sense.

Ok, so, when they release the Ultimate Trilogy, I'll knock my head on the wall until I forget all about SW, and I'll watch from 1 to 6. Then I'll tell you guys what I think. Altough I'd forgot about this website... maybe I can tatoo it on my chest "remember originaltrilogy.com".

I am your father will lose all its dramatic impact when watching the whole saga in order. By the time ep3 comes around & we've all seen weeniee lil anakin strapped in that suit who WONT know?

Then when ep5 comes around to your viewing leisure anyone watching it will be like "um yeah so i didnt make that connection already after ep3 finished & ep 4 started? Dohhhhhhhhh!"

& so it would seem that forever tainted the Star Wars saga is & we should be forced at red hot poker in the japs eye point to watch them in this order:

4-5-6-1-2-3

God im so pissed off (

Ok, how about presenting to the new SW generation the saga in the following order: 5-6-1-4-3-2-then 5 again. It'll sure confuse the heck of them, but hey, they'll be less confused than after watching the matrix trilogy.

There's nothing confusing about watching the Matrix trilogy; you just watch the first one three times and throw the others away...

Sometimes I think the next generations will not appreciate and watch the original SW trilogy as we did, they'll watch it when they get to be 25, 30... How many kids today watch Hitchcock or Kubrick movies? They want mindless, simples action flicks, like matrix, or... scorpion king (yes the spin-off of a sequel of a re-shooting of an adaptation). SW will be some sort of a cult thing, seeing by fewer people...

I LIKE IT! (your idea, that is)

And I would probably go with Warbler's idea on presenting the SW films.

Don't do this, HG. Just remember that the OT OV has yet to be released. Being deprogrammed of it, you'll have never had the pleasure of seeing it the "real" way.
