*POTENTIAL SPOILER*

It seems like the Joker is going to serve him Alfred's corpse on a plate.

*END SPOILER*

Batman has like, seven Robins, some of whom you need to twist time and space for their existence to make any sense, and they kill off Alfred!??!

Yeah, the last page of last months Batgirl certainly suggested something like this !!

I started reading "Captain America" from the 1940's.

Just got done with issue #1.  I do love these classic comics.

SPOILERS

Apparently the big reveal was that nothing happened.

If I had read all 23 parts of this huge epic (expensive) storyline, and the big ending was that the Joker "apparently" fell to his death, I'd burn the comics like Luke burned Vader.

Hey! Don't knock modern DC!! The New 52 take on Aquaman and Firestorm is really good! (Then again, those are the only ones I've been buying. I didn't particuarly like the New 52 Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or Green Lantern Comics)

Reading Marvel's new Age Of Ultron series. Just read #3(of 12).

Pretty grim so far but good reading. Ultron has taken over, and devastated the world. The last surviving heroes have retreated underground, while Ultron's many guard units patrol the ruins of New York. Instantly put me in mind of 'The Terminator' film.

Went to the comic store to buy a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy.  My thoughts are that if it's successful, they might bring Dan and Andy back to run the show and return to where they left it.

But it was sold out everywhere... so... good for them.

I did notice that Stupid Kid Nova gets his own comic now.  Why in the world is Rich Ryder still dead now that the 3 people he died with, Thanos, Star Lord, and Drax, all seem to be alive and kicking.

Somehow.

But where the heck is my Rich Ryder Nova and get rid of this stupid kid Nova!

Judge Dredd - some new series by IDW - not the 2000AD stuff - although I've looked at some of that too.

Star trek, some ongoing stuff, some movie prequel stuff..

I can't really remember what the last comic I read was. I think it was a Spider-Man comic from '96 when Ben Reilly was in the role.

Last one I read was "Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness" #4, the last part of the comic that leads into the new movie. If any of the events are referenced in the movie, I will be shocked. It's not terrible, just forgettable. Except for Harry Mudd having a hot Bajoran daughter. I'll never forget that.

In other comic news, I got my email from Comixology yesterday allowing me to choose my free Marvel #1's from their failure a few weeks ago. For those that don't know, Marvel announced that you could download every single #1 for free from Comixology. The site crushed under the massive weight of traffic this caused. It was flakey for days, even if you weren't trying to add 700 issues to your cart. So they called it off, but allowed you to sign up for an email when they sorted things out. They sent out an email early this week saying that I was going to get an email with a link just for me to use to choose my issues, which I guess is how they're keeping traffic down. So last night I individually added something like 690 comics to my cart, which were immediately unlocked on my account (even though they gave themselves 12 hours to unlock them).

I'm immediately overwhelmed. Every #1. In no particular order. I don't know what's current, what came first, anything. I'll poke around for a bit with them, I probably won't buy ANY #2+, but I love having a collection, even if it's digital and could disappear if licensing falls apart.

Suggestions on #1's I should make a priority?

Annihilation Proglogue.  Not sure if that's considered a #1 or not...  :(

If all you've got is Annihilation #1, don't bother... it's actually issue 20 or something in a 26 issue series.

I excitedly got my hands on the latest issue of The Walking Deal, made it a little over halfway through, phone rang, had to run out and take care of something, and just now realized I never picked it back up again to finish it. Since it has been a couple of days and I haven't felt a pressing need to finish it, maybe this is a good time for me to let several issues stack up. It is moving along really slowly only getting to read a segment per month. The current storyline is actually really cool, but I think I'd enjoy it more if I could just sit down and read a bunch at once.

The 2005 restarts of Captain America and Iron Man were both pretty good.  I'm not sure if issue #1 really knocks it out of the park, but the first 25 issues or so are all great.

I wish Planet Hulk had a #1 so you could read it... but it started in something like ~98 of the ongoing series.

Secret War #1 (not Secret Wars)

I'd also say House of M and and some others... but they're not really going to make sense out of context.

Astonishing X-Men #1 (2004) was pretty good.

It's funny... there are so many #1's that I consider to be poor jumping on points.  Which is sort of the opposite of what they're trying to do.

Having now read part 4 I totally agree. The story just wasn't that interesting - especially for a story spanning 4 issues. And the lead in to the movie was one page of vagueness.

Dissapointing. At least it's separate from the ongoing series. Although I've heard that the series will follow on from the events of the film. Haven't heard anything about an Adaptation..

Alright I figured I'd update you on my #1's.

A-Babies vs X-Babies

An adorable one-shot with Baby Captain America fighting Baby Cyclops over a Bucky Bear doll.

Annihilation Prologue

I didn't follow this at all, sorry. Too grand for a starting point, not enough familiar characters for me.

Avengers, Vol 1

I had to read this one, the original Avengers meeting up. I love these old comics, with Stan Lee explaining what is happening in EVERY SINGLE PANEL.

Baby's First Deadpool

Another one-shot, a fake coloring book / story book about Deadpool

Hawkeye (2012)

I have a friend who is in love with the Matt Fraction Hawkeye series. You can really see why. Simple art, simple story of what Hawkeye does when he's not Avenging.

Iron Man, Vol 4

Figured I'd read a recent Iron Man. I did not care for the art on this one. It was kind of CG, very weird.

Marvel's Iron Man 3 Prelude

I'm a sucker for movie tie-ins, actually bought the 2nd issue of this (of 2). It's pretty good.

Marvel's The Avengers Initiative

A simple one-shot that shows what the Avengers were up to just before the Avengers Movie.

New Avengers: Illuminati

I misremembered the recommendation of Anniliation, which caused me to download this one. It's a Road To The Civil War book, and I really liked it. I'd love to read Civil War, but it looks like its spread out across way too many books.

Superior Spider Man

I read about how the last Spider Man series ended, so I'd be interested to check out the newest one. Even without having read any Spidey, this grabbed my interest. Of all I've read, this is the one I might keep reading.

I wish I had a lot more disposable income...

You get a reprieve for the moment, 005!  As there (currently) is no enemies list.

Maybe I read the wrong comic? Skrees and Skrulls and Thanos, and a group of space police wiped out by a bug army? I think?

I read Secret War #1. That I can get behind.

Something about Star Destroyers, Black Space Knights, White Space Princesses, Twin Sunned Planets...

:) :) :)

I think you might be singing a different tune by the time the Guardians of the Galaxy movie comes out.  If it's any good.

Secret War was pretty good, but I didn't realize it until years after I read it.  They talked a lot about it changing the face of Marvel comics... but after I read it, I emitted a confused "Meh?".  The past 10 years of Marvel comics pretty much all started with Secret War.

Got the "Game of Thrones" graphic novel.

It's ok. Really rushed.

I dig the art, but when the artist draws Catlyn Stark naked... that is NOT the body of a woman pushing 40 who birthed four kids. Are hips that hard to draw?

Started reading my #1's on Mrs. O'Five's iPad. Wow, that's SO much better.

All-New X-Men

Reading these randomly means I keep jumping in and out of the timeline. Just like Beast in this comic somehow.

Avengers vs. X-Men

I love the concept of this.

Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe

Deadpool murders the Fantastic Four. Ok.

Uncanny Avengers

I wish all Marvel comics were numbered by in what order they should be read. I'm confusing myself. I like the idea of having a mutant on the Avengers after all that apparently happened between the 1's I've been reading.

Uncanny X-Men

These old comics are hilarious.
