Alek,
Any updates no matter how small would be greatly appreciated when you have the time.....thanks for trying to get this project off the ground.
Cheers
Alek hasn't showed up for a while, so kindly quit bumping this thread. Be patient. If he ever returns, I'm sure he will post in it. If not, I guess you all just need to learn to live with it.
Ignorant of many things, but still a real bro.
Yeah quit posting in this thread. It's annoying.
I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

? I am new here so I am not shore if this is the plaice to say this but sense Aleksbmw is working on getting the best LD transfers I thought I would put it here. Most people seem to be capturing the letterbox copy’s
Has any one tried capturing the 4:3 pan and scan copy’s. I understand that the 4:3 pan and scan is cropped but would it not have more vertical resolution in the part it had? And isn’t most of the action in the 4:3 pan and scan copy? My thought is this. take the letterbox copy put it in you editing software and scale and crop to be Anamorphic Then take the 4:3 pan and scan copy, put it in your editing software and overlay it on top of the letterbox copy and scale it to match the letterbox copy. Then the hard part, make the 4:3 pan and scan copy Scan with the action to match the letterbox copy.
I have done that very thing before with a double sided DVD (not Star Wars). It had 4:3 on one side and 16:9 (2.35:1) on the other. In the end with very careful editing, I got the movie to be nearly seamless (no pun intended) and it was much better than just watching the widescreen version. I think your idea is totally doable and worth the effort. I wouldn't mind doing this if I had the 4:3 captures. I think I still have my scripts around somewhere from before and could reuse them for this. Every time a scene changes, you need to get the 4:3 area in the right spot. It doesn't take that long to do a whole movie.
Mike
WELL I was on Star wars.com and Came across this. Star Wars It would seem that the 1992
Or maybe try using an unopened copy of the 1995 VHS release.
Sadly I have never had a laserdisc player or any laserdiscs.
And I do not have the ability to copy VHS with copy protection.
?PS
I have made a new

Another HQ laserdisc project gone AWOL :/
This project is pushing up daisies.
looking for HDTV of the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy
Way back in the thread when I read that guy going “is this going to be another vaporware project…” in posts from 2009 I thought “wow what a jerk, a project like this is not something you can knock out in a weekend”… and now it’s 2016…
He actually did finish his player, and has modded some for others, and is still willing to talk to people about it, he just decided not to continue on forums because of time constraints and people flooding him with requests etc.
You can message him via his youtube channel and he will usually respond within a few weeks.

Where is that? “aleksbmw” or even “aleksbmw laserdisc” does not produce anything useful in youtube. His profile on here does not provide any other clues either.
Hello all
Sorry for the long absence, i was a little burned out for a while.
I also had a huge car project that took up all my time, the car has now been sold and im back into computing and this project.
Im gathering all the pieces to put it back together, i still have all the hardware and the Japanese Definitive (CAV) edition. (Thankfully)
Need to blow some dust off the C2ex and Runco (Nec IPS 4000) processor. A condensed version for those new to my project: The C2ex outputs pure NTSC via BNC to the Runco which then processes the y/c signals in Adaptive 3D and outputs s-vhs. The Sony has been modified to not power the Hi-vision circuits to further reduce fine noise. For the Image I started replacing caps with Panasonic Fc and Fm, the image got a big better. But the biggest difference (in fine image detail) came when i replaced all the caps surrounding the Panasonic Ntsc decoder with Black Gate Pk. Got a lower noise floor also after replacing the puny rf signal cable with a 75 ohm shielded coax that is probably 10x bigger.
The goal of the project is to capture the S-vhs coming from the Runco with as little loss of detail as possible.
