Lars Homestead Restoration.

A worthy cause or a waste of cash?

If the temporary sets like the homestead and Mos Espa have got to this stage already isn't restoration using the same materials just a brief gesture of defiance against entropy?

Wouldn't it be better to replace them with a more permanent structure made out of stone (which could bring much needed money into the region) or just let these things eventually blow away?

Came to the same general conclusion:

Although I appreciate the idea, it seems that this trip will only save it for a certain period of time.  Wonder if it's better to set up a fund to support someone who lives there to maintain the place or build an enclosure.  The environment's just too rough for this type of dwelling to persist for any lengthy duration.

Why not save the actual films, oh wait that is a lost cause since Lucas owns the copyright.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put the pieces of the set on a truck and ship them to a film museum and restore them with plaster etc there and build a stone replica at the site?

This is the AOTC igloo after all, the original was left to disintegrate a long time ago but reading the restoration page you'd think it was the same igloo that Hamill walked into and ladybirds got very sexed up in back in 1975.
