I'd like to say that it will be the last, but I doubt it.

What surprises me is that he would even respond to any of my posts. He hasn't in about three months. I guess, like he said, he forgot.

Aside from aliens, what do you think of the de-humanizing of the armies? The seperatists use droids, and the Republic uses clones. Then one guy brought it to me attention that the stormtroopers are clones, not something supported by the EU pre-AotC. I'm not very wild about the idea. If the entire Imperial Army is comprised of mindless drones, where's the conflict? It's like saying that the Empire is so reviled, so hated that everyone's part of the Rebellion. Droids vs clones does not strike me as a very universal conflect. Sounds like the Clone Wars was nothing more than kids playing with new toys. It's one of my biggest PT complaint storywise.

Jimbo, correct me if I'm wrong, but you would support a complete CGI re-working of the OT, wouldn't you? After all, story is nothing next to tidal wave after tidal wave of pretty colors, right? Who cares if Anakin isn't likable, nor is there any connection between him and Kenobi that suggests friendship. Who cares if it makes no sense that Padme would fall for him, when he has few redeeming qualities, and is downright creepy. After all, Portman's hot, right? Who needs Anakin to be developed anyway, since he's automatically going to become Darth Vader. It's pretty sad that the character's only real attribute is that he'll become the antichrist of his universe. Lucas has a lot to cover in III if Anakin's fall is to have any emotional impact at all. But what does it matter? The CGI will kick ass, right jimbo?

Sorry, I'm in a sarcastic, sadistic mood right now.

I don't approve of story changes but I don't think there are any. But yeah I love digital effects. They just look better to me. My sister has a crush on Hayden so I believe its just a matter of looks. Anakin and Padmes relationship is just one based on looks. Get over it.

Funny, because I always thought that the ONE thing Attack of the Clones needed to spice up that droll final stadium scene was a synchronized CGI drag chorus-line dance number ... I'd love it if the Jedi Knights ripped off their robes to reveal sequin mini-dresses and platform shoes as they belted out, "I Will Survive."

Forget Disco Duck ... what the world needs is "Disco Dooku!" See, THAT'S entertainment.

Yeah, that's exactly why their relationship is so pathetic: just like the prequels, it's all heartless eyecandy.

Leia and Han shared a very compelling (and at one point, very unexpected) relationship. The princess and the pirate. Both were smart; both were heroic. One was royalty; the other was a man with a price on his head.

Ew ... but the prequels go from "Are you an angel?" to "I am haunted by the kiss you should never have given me." Ugh.

The romance in the prequels lacks tension and dimension.

Come to think of it, EVERYTHING about the prequels lacks tension and dimension.

Look, I don't even blame CGI for the prequels' creative failures. As Peter Jackson proves out, CGI can be very effective in the right hands ... those hands are not Lucas'. The prequels feel cold because of poor character development, bad storytelling, bad direction (which resulted in bad acting), and too much attention focused on merchandising.

Sorry, but this does not make for compelling story telling. I believed the Han and Leia romance. Their characters were such at odds with each other that you could feel the underlying sexual tension.

Anakin and Padame....well, he was creepy. He stared at her like a stalker. He whined at her about Obi-wan. And this is supposed to make me believe that she was attracted to him? Why? If you were Padame, would you find Anakin attractive? I seriuosly doubt it. Sorry but the whole 'romance' was ridiculous and pathetic.

In the hands of a skilled screen writer, this could have been fixed. It could have been believable. Hell, remove or re-edit the fireside scene and take out that horrible 'died a little bit each day' line and the romance is acceptable. Not believable, but acceptable. Up until that fire side scene, there were a couple of decent scenes between the characters.

Asha is totally right. This is the problem with the prequels in a nut shell. Try as I may, I just can't care about the fate of these characters.

^ R2 - you forgot the bit where the Padme-Anakin romance blossoms, especially when Anakin tells her that he's just killed a load of Tusken Raiders - women and children included...

...that's surely the height of getting anyone to fancy you, and not only that - but marriage and kids will be on the agenda very soon.

lol - or it would be if I couldn't remember the pain and squirm factor when subjected to those 'romance' scenes

So you mean it's not part of a typical discussion which takes place on a date or start of a relationship...?

Q - what do you do for a living? have you had a good day today?

A - well, today I killed around 15 men, 12 women some children and some funny dog looking animals.

Q - wow! let's forget the pizza and movie - you've gotten me so hot I just have to have you right now! You're just the person I've been waiting for - how do you feel about getting married and having kids soon?

Seriously, I was under the impression that Padme is meant to be an intelligent woman - that has been elected Queen, was asked to stay on as she did such a great job, was then asked to be a Senator to the Republic.

Just what does it say about her (let alone just why DOES she fall for Anakin?) that she starts a relationship at a time when she is thinking of starting a family - with a Jedi who has some authority / killing issues, stares at her rather creepily and blames his 'father figure' for holding him back?

I'm only surprised that Lucas didn't have Anakin tell her that he's been having dreams that end with him and a m8 ruling the galaxy after offing all his pals/everyone he likes (or stares at) for all not having the same views as his...

Sometimes, in films good characters and actors can help iron over some the failings in the script - though Portman and Christiansen so far have failed, along with a very poorly thought-out script. I hope that Ep3 can rectify or rescue something out of it - or maybe there's a whole host of deleted scenes where their relationship is done justice.

Though I very much doubt it.

On the AOTC DVD there was one really good scene that was deleted. It was when Padame and Anakin went to visit Padame's parents. Well acted and believable scene. It was cut according to Lucas becase it was nothing more than just 'showing a bit more of character' or something like that. Basically, some of the better Anakin/Padame character developement stuff, was cut. Lucas said it really didn't move the story forward. Well, I guess when you don't have a story to begin with, having anything that has to do with moving it forward has to go. Gotta make room for all of the wonderful, eye popping CGI.

Have to agree it would have better leaving that scene in. I really liked it plus I know this is very repetitive but Nats blue outfit in that scene rocked. But of course R2 you don't care about that. Youd rather read a good old Playgirl.

What the f*** is that supposed to mean?! You are a prick that noone likes Jimbo. I'm gonna try to get your ass banned for that.

And you don't even have the right to refer to her as "Nat."

Boy, you just don't know when to quit while you're ahead do you? I told you yesterday to be careful that you were treading dangerously close to the line. I see you didn't listen.

Seems to me that you're judgement of how wonderful AOTC is depends on how much 'kewl' CGI there is and what Natalie Portman is wearing. If this is your criteria for what makes a good movie, then it's useless to try and have an intelligent conversation with you. I'll just let your last statement stand as an example of how trully pathetic you really are.

Quit changing the subject guys. Point is I would have liked the Padmes family left in. I think it is a good peice of the story. Id like to cut that back in if I could. You just can't get enough of Attack of the Clones can yeah.

I hear a strange sound. It must be the sound of you digging your own grave.

Again, you just don't know when to quit while you're ahead. Keep going and you're gonna be banned from here permanently. And you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

I find it ironic that this is happening in a thread about the lack of humanity in the prequels and you just keep demonstrating your lack of humanity. Think about it.

And while you're at it, you might want to go back and re-read this post from Jay.

My God really dude get over it. The Govenator has a name for people who are overly worrying and overly sensitive. Girlie men. Don't be a girlie man. I get much worse insults then that only for my views on Star Wars. Do I go whine and threaten to ban people. No. I take it like man. I either ignore it or insult back. Not to mention none of my comments were very offensive. I say much worse things about gays in most other places. I have been trying not to be too radical here. I mean if you said something like "Youd rather read a good playboy" to me I would have laughed and not taken any personal offense.

Back on subject again. If I want to see a human conflict I will watch any non science fiction movie. If I want to see an alien conflict with a few humans mixed in Ill watch Star Wars.
