Not officially. Still some negotiating to do as the rights to it are owned by one company and New Line wants to acquire them so as to be able to make it one with the LOTR movies. It was expected to be Jackson's next film until he opted for King Kong and I think he's got something else in line next. It is rumored to be the film version of The Lovely Bones.

MGM currently owns the rights to The Hobbit, so any adaptation would have to be made with some concessions to Sony.

Whats ironic is that all of them were years before my generation and I'm more into it than my dad was when they first came out.
