So far this looks really really good, just a question, and this isn’t meant to offend, what exactly differentiates you and 44rh1n’s version, what made you decide to build on his work.

44rh1n restored the colors only in the extended scenes. I used an extended Blu-ray for almost all the scenes, which is better quality than a theatrical Blu-ray.

Dwalin used my grades of the extended scenes, but went even further by completing a shot-for-shot regrade of the rest of the theatrical footage from the extended Blu-ray as well (unlike my release, which uses the theatrical Blu-ray for those scenes).

It turns out that The Theatrical Edition of The Two Towers also suffered from digital noise reduction.

Hey there! What’s the progress like on TT? I just finished up building a subtitle track for the non-hardcoded Elvish dialogue and adding in all the commentary tracks, so I think until the UHD release, I have my ideal FoTR copy for Plex! Thanks for the killer work

This sounds amazing, would it be possible to get a link?

I’ve been scrutinizing the films quite a bit recently… And I have been looking at how the films were changed and what material outs & trimms and also scenes and structural changes were made.

FOTR comes out with the most alterations made to it but those alterations seem to impact TTT more than they do FOTR.

Once we reach ROTK things balance out in terms of Structure but we start to see the overubundance of comicical gags and some major alterations to the ending.

Whilst the work to the colorgrade is appreciated great work please keep your versions as projects or final renders.

With the possibility of extra material being released next year and some that is already available the Ultimate cut which won’t happen might be a good idea?

I made a thread about it in the media section of this forum and would like to map out the differences in detail so it can be somewhat realized as a true fan edit. Wether you are game or not it is good for viewpoints and discussion on these films.

Hey, just stopping by to say to everyone involved in this, especially the color restoration of Fellowship: THANK YOU!
I found it just a few days ago “by accident”, and I thought it must have come from the guys on this forum.

Back when they released the extended versions on blu-ray, (Around 2011 or so?) I made an own attempt of just doing a one setting for the entire film script in avisynth and it’s pathetic compared to what you guys achieved here. Finally, we can all watch Fellowship the way it looked and should look. I removed my old files with a smile on my face. 😃

I know they released a 4K upscale of both the LOTR and Hobbit trilogies (yes, upscale) but they changed the color timing in every single one, as far as I know. Choosing upscale instead of an actual 4K source is a bad move no matter where or when, but I still lack the hardware to view 4K material so I’m happy with what I have.

Sorry for not being around often anymore. Still having extreme health issues and no light at the end of the tunnel in sight. But glad to see you guys still keep the strong spirit of movie-preservation alive!

As an amateur fan editor who’s been trying my own hand at re-grading TLOTR manually (currently only a bit over halfway through TFOTR), I would love a copy of this!

Another question: I’ve been working on a small edit of the EE, adding musical intermissions and custom chapter titles, as well as re-grading them. Though I do intend to finish my own colour grade, I’m finding myself increasingly pressed for time recently; would it be permissible to make a version using your re-graded films? My edits are mainly for personal viewing; if I end up wanting to release them on here, I’ll use your version solely as reference.

Looks great! Can I get a link as well?

Check out my edit “THE END OF THE JEDI”. It’s a 2 in 1 edit of TLJ and ROS.

Could I please receive a link for the complete restorations of fellowship and TTT please? I honestly have the dubbed mkv files and was hoping to get fully color corrected (Dwalin?) and possibly mp4 but I can convert the files myself. Thank you in advance for your efforts and great works. They look incredible and bring me back to 2001-2003 but more breathtaking and illuminated than I remember. A+ everyone’s efforts!

There is a green tint in the two towers?

Edit: forgot to phrase that as a question.
