Kodi / Plex / Media Center Posters?

Why aren’t the DVD covers here helpful? Can you not import custom covers? I don’t use Kodi, but I do use Plex and Plex’s scanners pick up a myriad of poster art including some that are distinctly Despecialized Edition.

Plex can also import custom covers from a local drive or from a url. Can Kodi not do that? If the DVD labels posted here only have the whole label (front to back) available, then it’s just a matter of cropping the image to include only front cover. You can do that with GIMP or MSPaint.

I’m not sure why you can’t crop an image yourself and import it. Can Kodi seriously not do that?

I’m not sure why Kodi has a problem displaying custom covers.

…oh. You mean Despecialized fanart (meaning background images), not just posters. Yeah, there ought to be more of those made.

Would you be interested in these for each film? I can pm you a download link with each of them. I use them on kodi and they look fantastic!

It may be worth asking him if he’d do one for you with ‘Despecialized Edition’ text on there?

It should be quite easy to find almost any large Star Wars cover / poster / art you like and attach some ‘DeSpecialized Edition’ text onto them as a few pictures below show… (MS Paint and a few Star Wars themed fonts usually does the trick for me 😃)

The Disney+ posters may look good on the screen? Yet it seems there are significantly better art and posters in this thread alone, and from official art for the releases from years ago.

The color for Star Wars (A New Hope) looks weird too in comparison with the others. Boba Fett was in Empire Strikes Back quite a bit going on that poster too!
 

I’m a little surprised nobody on here has made covers in a matching style of the above posters for the Holiday Special, Rebels, the two Clone Wars series, the theatrical Clone Wars, both the Droids and the Ewoks animated 1980’s series, and the two Ewok movies. Anything I missed?
