Anybody ready for an edit of this?

This will be my first edit, and as such, will probably take quite a while. I can’t even get past the planning stages until my DVD finally arrives (Won’t ship until the 29th, since I’m waiting for it to ship with the OST).

Anyhow, first of all…

SPOILERS MAY/WILL/ALMOST DEFINITELY WILL FOLLOW

Alrighty then. Changes I plan to make:
-Basically add my own subtitle track that will make small changes to the dialogue, hopefully to clarify things. And to change Vincent’s line when he arrives on the battle scene (no matter how you translate it, it leaves you with a “wtf?” feeling…)

-Re-order the beginning scenes and remove some of them. I honestly want to start the movie off with the scene of the Cloudy Wolf at the Buster Sword, but I’m trying to figure out where to insert the vital parts of Marlene’s dialogue (mainly introducing Geostigma and Denzel).

-Try to get rid of the continuity error in the forest battle scene (Cloud pulls out the main sword and a notched sword, but falls off of his bike with the main sword and the “red rod” sword).

-Get rid of the “questionable” editing right when Rufus jumps off of the building (Kadaj’s expression while being shot suddenly changes two frames later)

-Re-edit the placement of the Turks scene at the end of the tunnel so it happens before the tunnel battle, and also alter one of their lines to “Let’s plant this and get out of here,” or something of the ilk, then edit out Reno’s smile right before the explosion. I always thought that it was really wierd that both Reno and Rude survived the explosion without a scratch (Whereas Yazoo and Loz were in the process of dying).

-Still working on some other stuff, heh.

Sounds like a cool and challenging project. I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what reaction's I've read, someone like me (casual fan of the franchise really, never actually beat ff7 or played a ff game since then) won't really 'get' it or whatever that means. If I am able to understand your version, then consider your mission accomplished.

-----Advent Children and Fan Edit Spoilers Ahead-----

Alright, I finally figured out how to edit 5.1 audio in premiere... So now I can get started on this. Maybe I can finish in time for the contest...

Anyhow, I've given this alot of thought and made some decisions... For one, I'm completely chopping up the beginning.
-Maybe move Red XIII's intro to the end, and just have something that says "2 Years Later"
-Then/Start with the Cloudy Wolf by the Buster Sword, initiate ridiculous bike fight. As Cloud looks up at Kadaj as he drives away, I'll start Marlene's voiceover.
-Place the opening helicopter scene in Rufus's speech. I've got it all planned out, and really don't want to tell more, heh.

Also, I was going to reincorporate a deleted scene or two, possibly Sephiroth's second to last one liner.

I've also come to the conclusion that there is no way to fix the continuity error with the swords in the forest. The only other possible option is two replace it with the footage of Cloud drawing only the First Sword out of the Fenrir... Oh well.

the official release has been pushed back to january in the u.s., that is of advent children.

Japan always get the good stuff first.

Hopefully there will be two releases one english dubbed, and another english subtitled, or on one dvd.

Don't know what american actors/ voice overs could play the characters well. Considering when ff7 came out on the p.s. one the final fantasy games had no voiceovers.

who should voice cloud, aerith, or sephiroth?

I'm finally seeing an end to this project in sight. If anyone is handy with something that could make nice animated menus (I have a concept and everything, I just can't put it together), like Adobe After Effects, and would be willing to help out, send me a PM.

I've made a few changes from my original plans, but I think this still ought to be a great movie. I'll have three subtitle options:
-Intended Viewing Subtitles (subs I wrote)
-True Translation Subs
-Intended viewing subs with subs at the top of the screen every now and then that basically give notes here and there that are meant to let the movie make sense for someone who hasn't played the game.
