High Tension cover: what I like: the title writing, the large amount of blood, the overall dark atmosphere of the front. Actually this fits the movie better than the Rikter cover.

CBB006 - High Tension: Minus One Edit (Preview #02):
just great! very good front pictures and writing, I am not so sure about the silver frame, but that is the series, so it's okay, the side is very nice and fitting and the back cover is sufficent and well done. Congratulations. What I like best is your diplomatic way of changing our texts and correcting them to real English and less offensive. good work.

CBB008 - War of the Worlds: Extinctive Cut (Preview #01):
War of the worlds: I like the front and the title font you chose is also nice. The picture in the front may be the same as in the original cover but since it is more focussed on the red spreading and reaching plants, it delivers a different atmosphere, kind of disgusting, I like that.

CBB008 - War of the Worlds: Extinctive Cut (Preview #02):
great picture in the back!!! Since I have never seen it and it is not part of the movie, I suspect, you composed this on your own. WOW! Tough work. Very good cover art for this one too. I consider both covers finished as they are now, but then you never know what idea is still on your mind. Keep it up.

you may send me the final versions of your cover art as soon as you finished them, so I can add them to further uploads. I am looking very forward to adding these covers to future postings of CBB edits.
...after all it was worth it to keep you in the credits of WOTW TEC. ;-)

KLOKWERK, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK ON THESE COVERS.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I hope that I can provide covers of the same, and perhaps better quality as I continue to work on covers for other CBB titles.

I'M REALLY HOPING TO START MY MR. & MRS. SMITH EDIT NEXT WEEK. I HAVE AN IDEA FOR THE COVER, BUT MY PHOTOSHOP SKILLS ARE STILL LACKING JUST A LITTLE BIT. I MAY HAVE TO ENLIST YOU FOR THE JOB ALONG WITH RIKTER AND COOV.

Well, in a sting of procrastination (damn Visual Analysis crap), I dug up my old unfinished CBB covers. Here's the first preview for CBB004. boon23, is the front cover any good? I tried to do something different to all the red/black/london/biohazard stuff. I am toying with different ideas and I have only free time here and there, but I think I can get this done sometime this week or next. I really want to finish my set of CBB covers (so that I'm up to date).

First of all: great you are still working on these covers!!!
The front is good, but much to peaceful IMHO. In this movie hell breaks loose. Walking through a quiet earth is a very small part. So I think a cover with more "action" would be better. It also reminds me on the one thing that was particularly striking me when watching "28 days later": the morning feeling. Of course it is difficult to film on one of the most crowded places on earth and see it quiet and with just the hero. Not everyone has the money (like they did for VANILLA SKY). But I found it rather distracting that it was so clearly very early in the morning all the time, when they showed the empty London scenes. If you can, try to make it more of a horror movie cover. Btw. does anybody have an idea what these tribals mean?

Which "tribals" are they boon23 ?

As a Londoner I think they did as good as job as time and budget could allow, like you say (shame that I *always* spot an individual walking through the back of one of the empty shots, I guess it could be a ragified Zombie !).

There's something about that cover I really like, I have to say - the stillness and the sunhaze warms you into it and does exactly what the film does, gives you a sense of forboding that something must be wrong, but you can't quite put your finger on it ! ('why is he wearing a hospital gown ?' the uninitiated would muse...). Perhaps making it more "horror" or overt would blunt the subtlety ?

Just a thought, love the edits and the klokwerk art, so won't complain either way whatever you go for - just know there will always be permanent webspace

Sorry, I used the wrong word. Tribals are what Germans call symbols, signs. I am referring to the symbols below the writing of "27 days later" which are also on the 28 days later posters everywhere. Is there any meaning to that (maybe I miss some kind of Rohrschach-test)?

And, meedermow, you may be just right about the subtility.

I completely agree. I really like the cover. It's a braver cover than a straightahead horror cover. Unlike many official covers that scream 'This is a horror movie' or 'This is a sci-fi movie'. If this isn't the final cover, I'd really like a copy of it in this form klokwerk.

where have i been all this time ?

I am changing what I'm doing. Boon23 is the member from CBB that's on these boards and so I kind of like to get advice/instruction from him. However, I will make a 2nd version available with the concept that I showed in the preview. I'll see how both versions progress. I am working on the cover at the moment, hopefully the next preview will be closer to completion.

boon23, the symbol is the 'biohazard' symbol. Dictionary.com had this to say about 'biohazard' (I couldn't think of a goodway to describe the meaning):
1. A biological agent, such as an infectious microorganism, or a condition that constitutes a threat to humans, especially in biological research or experimentation.
2. The potential danger, risk, or harm from exposure to such an agent or condition.

If you want me to drop it from the cover, let me know. I think it's fitting though (and it is plastered all over "28 days later" stuff).

biohazard... makes sense ;-). Of course you should keep it.

Well, here's a newer preview of the version going in the slightly more 'horror' direction. I will work on the other version when I'm done with this one. I tightened up the "27 Days Later" text on the front, removed the drop-shadow effect and resized it and the biohazard symbol to make it more closely resemble the 'official logo' for "28 Days Later". I also changed the front art (obviously) and added the alternate set of eyes to the back cover.

Please let me know what you think, and remember the other version will be completed eventually.

Hey klokwerk,

Totally understand that boon23 should have the deciding vote (though very pleased that you are continuing with the first as well !).

I like the back of the second with the eyes, the front is now very reminscent of the UK release:

Tough to find a balance I guess, but I'd personally have eyes on the front or the back, but not both (and if pushed - just the back !).

Great work - as always.

Yeah, I thought it was very close to the retail art. I don't know if that's good or bad. It suits the film though. :/

My original pick was to have the eyes on the back too (the pair from the front started on the back when I had the "sunrise" pic on the front). I am still fumbling with ideas and trying different pieces of hi-res art that I've acquired for this film. I'd like to know which pair of eyes you'd prefer to see on the cover though Meedermow - the male ones (one the back atm) or the female ones (on the front atm)?

Much more horror-like. BUT compared to the first one I must say, I preferred the first, even though less horror. I agree to meedermow, eyes on front and back are to much. I am not sure about the eyes at all, maybe more transparent, title writing and biohazard symbol are great. http://kanak4life.milten.lima-city.de/28%20Days%20Later.JPG

Really tricky call ! I'm so familiar with the ones on the front, and love the biohazard warnings in the eyes, though the back cover eyes are totally new as an image - so provide a nice change to the norm. I guess for continuity sake (and you knew this was coming...) the front eyes on the back cover would be the best compromise though, as mentioned at the expense of the other pair.

The front cover ones are quite animalistic, and hence more in line with the nature of the film (though a vast part of the social commentary aspect of the film as well), the rear eyes are more "horror" movie, so it's whatever style you are going for klokwerk.
