I'll work on modifying the door, I do agree about the shad of blue and the brightness being not right.

As for the question of have I seen the movie... I've seen the CBB edit. I have yet to see the official version of the movie.

It looked odd to have the door as the same shade of blue as the rest of the cover, so I changed it a little. What does everyone think of the door's color now? I added some background behind the door, as what used to be there was messy and cut-n-paste. I rearranged the symbols once more (just the Screen Gems and the text) and now I do think it is finally finished. Here are previews in 2D and 3D, once I get approval I shall start work on another CBB Edit cover...

I think approval from the one of creators of the disc is as high as you are gonna get

That's a great cover - and the door suggestion and execution are inspired.

What's the next CBB you were thinking of working one klokwerk (time allowing !) ?

Personally I think the Matrix DeZionized and the Kirkless Generations are the ones that need more justice at the mo than their current counterparts

Well, after those comments; the cover is now complete. I want to upload the Hi-Res JPG version of the cover, but none of the free image hosts will allow a 5MB image. If someone could help me out here that'd be great. I will be getting the TIFF versions to Rikter hopefully to be included with the torrents of the CBB DVDs should they ever be uploaded at MySpleen. Otherwise, I'll just upload a torrent myself when all of them are done, containing the TIFF versions and the JPG versions.

I don't really want criticism for this one yet, as I only just started and there are many things here that I need to do but I just wanted to give you guys a sneak peek at get your opinions if this is close enough to the layout for "Doomed by the Boogeyman" to be recognised as a cover in the CBB series.

Anyway...

Here we go again

no handwriting, please.... I know it refers to both the letter by Hannibal and the original cover, but... I always though that handwriting is to soft for a movie like that.

The HANNIBAL font is nice. The words from the official teaser (his genius, etc): great! I love that.

The text needs to be a bit different. I realize you were trying to be close to the CBB text, but somehow this is not convincing. The sound for example that we were referring to was not IN the movie, it was in the theatre. When Hannibal cuts Krendler's skull open, the whole audience was like "ouch!" and then there was coughing and vomiting noises...
The information part about Starling's part being reduced etc, is ok, but not that good, I still prefer the rather offensive style we used (no, he is not a good man, no, he does not kill only bad and rude people, yes, there was way to much Starling, yes, Barney sucks and a freindship bewtween him and Hannibal is just not possible...).

And the picture of Hannibal... I don't like it. It is to grey and unsharp and does not fit the way the movie is shot.

What I really do like is black turning to red on the back and the overall structure and layout of the back.

This is all of course just an opinion.

Well boon23, thanks for the comments. The text and all other elements will receive heavy treatment before the cover is done. I'm glad I have some idea of what to do next.

Some questions for you; when you said the "HANNIBAL font is nice" I assume you mean the title on the front cover? And you don't like the use of handwriting, so that cancels out both the one at the top of the back cover and the "Hannibalized Edition" text on teh front cover, yes? I'm glad you like the teaser poster's text. The image of Hannibal will be replaced eventually, but at the moment the only image I can find in hi-res is the one from the theatrical poster and I want the CBB covers to use images that aren't that common, so we'll see what I can find.

The main thing I was looking for was comments on the layout and since you approve that's great. I will now go and rework the text a little and try and find a better image. A replacement font for the front where the handwriting is will be hard to find. For the back I'll be using the original "Hannibal" text as that is one of the features of this design. I just need to download the hi-res textless poster which I can do tomorrow.

The CBB group hereby announces KLOKWERK as one of its oficial cover art designers. All KLOKWERK CBB covers will be included in future uploads and will also be part of the fan edit contest (if already available). Great skill...

New preview. I have reworked the text a little. Please give me more guidance on the text to make it better. The "Hannibalized Edition" font on this version is just a placeholder to remind me to change it when I'm able to. The picture on the back has been changed to one of the poster image's variations. I changed the coloring ever so slightly. Although the picture has changed and indeed its location has changed, I have still tried to keep the layout, what do you think?

I am so glad, the DVDs arrived. You watched four during one day??? Jeez, that's a lot. YOu obviously were on some kind of CBB-less diet before ;-) Now those times are finally over.

and now for the DVD cover: This is much better already. I really like the placing of the text and where the picture is placed. The picture of hannibal.... yes, of course we all know this one... Personally I nerver liked it. He is not a demon and the movie is not about a demonized hannibal or even very scary. If you have to stick to this picture, klokwerk, please remove the red eye to a normal one.

I have corrected the release date (year) of the film to 2001. I had accidentally left it as 2005 from Boogeyman. I also did some colorizing of that poster image. Now instead of being all red it has more of a realistic skintone and the eye has been changed to blue. For now, this is the best I can do as no other images will suffice. Boon23, I tried incorporating the pics you posted but they just didn't work out. If anybody can provide some hi-res hannibal images that they think I might be able to use, please do so.

In regards to the 'strange' things going on at the top of the back cover, that is just the old version of the poster. If you look closely you may be able to see what color the skin used to be before I changed it. The title of the film will be removed when I'm able to do so and I will add a new recreation of the film's title via a text layer using a very similar font. Anyway, here it is...

I still don't like the picture, he is smiling in such a strange way... Blue eyes are better though (IMHO).

Well, I've acquired a slightly different version of the image used on the poster. It is not as dark and seems to show more of Hannibal's face. I would like to replace this picture also, but I'm working with what I've got. Anyway, due to the slightly different proportions of this image, it means I had to rearrange the cover a bit. I still have both versions on my PC, but I need to know which is the better of the two. The other changes are: I made the MGM logo slightly smaller. I added the newly created title on the back and also used this as a base for the front and spine.

Now, below I've put the previous preview (#3), and below that, the latest preview (#4) to show you what I mean. This is the best way to decide which is the better layout/pic combo of the two.

definetly no.4, the new one. Do you think it is possible to make the image more pale? Hannibal was never much of a sunshine anyway ;-)

I really hope so, but right now I am not sure if KLOKWERK has found one.
